Why did Jeremy become a Vampire Hunter?

I know Connor died but why Jeremy? Does that mean that he has to kill all the Vampire's 또는 can he choose not to become a hunter?

The Tatoos just appered because Connor is dead and Jeremy could be a hunter.

he does this to save elena because she is being hunted. whenever a new vampire hunter kills his first vamp the hunter before him will stop haunting the person who killed him aka elena its kind of confusing
