Why do in certain movies/shows characters (Mostly malexfemale) land on 상단, 맨 위로 of each other?

Most of the time it looks kinda 😏 and not always all makes sense the way some of those falls happen.

Are they just meant to be an adult joke?

It's a cliché. Pretty 인기 in Romance. A way of them telling us that the two Characters start developing feelings for each other. Sometimes it's just natural and others, forced out of nowhere. There are also the occasions where they just do it to display sensuality / comedy so an ''adult joke'' it could be too !!!!

Makes sense. I used to hear it was a cliché that came from Animes but I don0t really remember at least from the ones I watched to have seen this
