Sorry if this has already been asked; I've been running on like 1/4 of a braincell this whole week.

*is graduating next year into a covid-fucked job market with median house price now over $850,000 and the entire earth already starting to get fucked by climate change*

A few points:
- Millenials are less financially stable than previous generations were + economic mobility link since the 1940s. The authors of that paper attribute the change to spiralling income inequality
- Millenials are saddled with student debt. Australians of my parents' generation didn't pay a single cent for university education; I'm leaving uni with >$70,000 to pay off
- Wages have barely kept up with inflation, house prices have soared. link
- Technology has millenials feeling as though they have to be "always on" at work - instead of clocking of at 5pm, a lot of young employees now physically leave the office just to sign back on at home.
- Social media technology seems to have link and has likely contributed to the mental health epidemic
- Automation is gonna fuck us up within the next few decades
- We're not doing nearly enough to prevent climate change and we're gonna see the disastrous effects within our lifetimes. We already are

Dude...yeah, like all of that. And on top of it literally every other gen seems to hate us and has something negative to say about us as a whole. If it's not 'lazy' it's 'entitled & narcissistic'. If it's not that, it's that we're a 'useless generation'. We have all of this bullshit and the added stress of pretty much everyone else talking about how awful our gen is.

I definitely feel like they're the entitled generation. After working retail I can tell you that teens (though they get obnoxious sometimes) and college kids were some of the most polite and patient and understanding customers. Where as the middle age ones would snap if you scan an item at the wrong angle.

^Interesting. Yeah I've observed this too when I worked as a dental nurse: the most polite/non-demanding patients were either over the age of 80, or under the age of 30

Tangential, but have always found that lil link of "you're welcome" (used more by boomers) vs "no problem" (used more by millenials) interesting

I've actually seen that post before! Kind of reminds me of how they would get mad if I said 'have a good one' instead of 'have a good day or night'. The reason I say 'good one' is because I often default to morning by accident even if it's night...

I fear for the zoomers. Like I don't blame them for being cynical.
