Matt was taking Elena out of town- to Damon, without asking, 당신 realize that? She said him all that about Stefan, and so little about Damon, and he was in that car with her, driving towards Damon. Only then, on the road, he asked her what she really wants. It's like he saw far away than Elena did. :) He could just ask her in that room.
