“We've been watching them for three hours Megan. Becca isn't doing anything but having some fun.”
“Are 당신 sure? She seemed really sad when she left. And she lied about needing to be alone.”
“Megan, Becca has other friends,” Artemis explained. “She's bound to have 더 많이 than we know of. And that is obviously someone she needed right now. Becca's happy. Can we go now?”
Before the Martian girl could answer, a blue mist filled the bio-ship. When it disappeared, Becca and her friend stood in the cockpit.
“Why hello my little snoops!” Becca teased.
The girl behind her giggled.
“How'd 당신 do that?!” Artemis exclaimed.
“I can teleport; another of my useful powers. And this is Jade. Jade, this is Artemis and Megan.”
“Pleasure,” Jade said, giving a little head bow.
“Uh, same,” Artemis returned.
“Jade's been an ambassador for several planets since she was five. She hasn't fully let go of the planetary standards for meeting others.”
“Huh. So Jade 당신 were only five when 당신 left Earth?” Artemis asked.
“Yes. I met Becca when she and her family were visiting my hometown.”
“Yeah. All my 프렌즈 go away and I stay the same.”
Becca hadn't meant for it to sound lonely but the way the words were arranged caused it to be so. She shifted uncomfortably while a blush covered her cheeks.
“I-I didn't mean for it to sound like that. It was meant to be a joke.”
“But 당신 have been lonely, right?”
“Megan, everybody gets lonely at one point 또는 another. I'm fine. I had 프렌즈 after Jade, Robin, and everyone else I knew left. Don't worry; I'm okay. No need to panic.”
Megan looked worried still but stayed quiet.
“Why'd 당신 come all the way out here anyhow?” Artemis asked, changing the subject.
“Becca thought it'd be fun to play around since 당신 were following us,” Jade answered.
“You knew?!”
Becca smirked.
“You think Superboy is the only one with enhanced senses? Besides, I watched 당신 go into camouflage mode about twenty miles back.”
“Ugh! I can't believe 당신 allowed us to follow you.”
“I can't believe 당신 did. What did 당신 think I was going to do? Go out with the first decent guy that asked me out? I don't play games. Sure, I was mad at Robin, but that doesn't mean I'd be unfaithful. Robin and I have been through too much to allow one disagreement to tear us apart. And, I'd never do anything that would hurt him. At least not on purpose and not without thinking things all the way through. 당신 should have trusted me.”
“It was Artemis' idea!”
“Megan! Fine. It was my idea. 당신 just seemed so sad and upset. I didn't want 당신 to do something 당신 would regret,” Artemis explained.”
“I understand. But that's why I needed to talk with Jade. She went through the same thing on one of the planets she was on.”
“Jade watched as two people fell in 사랑 and counseled them?”
“No. I fell in love. Another girl entered the picture and I was very tempted to leave him. But I didn't. I wanted it to work so I stayed.”
“And how do 당신 feel on Earth?” Megan asked. “Do 당신 miss him?”
“Very much. But...”
Jade turned silent, biting her lip. Becca touched her arm comfortingly and filled in the blank spot Jade had left.
“Jade doesn't need to worry because the man she loved...died. That's why she's back.”
“Oh! I'm so sorry!”
Ever tender Megan hugged the girl tight, joining in with tears of her own. Becca moved to allow Megan's gentle touch and soothing whispers calm the super powered ambassador.
“I'm sorry we assumed,” Artemis apologized.
“You had every right to. I never gave 당신 a reason to trust me. And 당신 should have met Jade earlier. She's been here for a few weeks. We just hadn't found time. And this was the best solution.”
“Yeah. I can tell.”
Artemis looked at her watch.
“We should head back; it's getting late.”
“Alright. I'll met 당신 guys at the mountain. I need to drive Jade home.”
“Be careful.”
“Duh.”
In another burst of smoke, Jade and Becca disappeared. Megan turned the bio-ship around and headed for home.
“Should I be worried if Becca hasn't come back yet?” Megan asked.
Artemis looked up from her book and shook her head.
“Nope. I saw Robin heading in that direction. They're probably talking.”
“Alright.”
“Or kissing. Maybe both.”
“Are 당신 speaking from experience?”
Artemis flushed and promptly put her nose back into her book. Megan giggled and went back to work on the dish she was attempting to make. The mountain was unusually quiet and it worried them both. After many silent minutes, Artemis turned to her friend.
“Do 당신 sense anyone else around?” she asked.
“Hmmm...yeah. Connor's in his room, Kaldur is out 의해 the ocean, and Wally is flirting with Cassie. 당신 can kill him anytime 당신 wish.”
“Thank you. What about the birds?”
“Oh! Let's see...they're talking in the garage.”
“Kay. But that doesn't explain the silence.”
“I know. I think I'll check on Connor. 당신 can go kill Wally and we'll both go to Kaldur. Yeah?”
“Sure. Where is that speedster?”
“Just outside the back door.”
“Alright. I need a target anyway. This'll help me practice.”
“Ow! Artemis!”
“Wally. Cassie.”
“Hey archer. Jealous?”
“Of you? Never.”
Artemis came to stand toe-to-toe with Cassie. They glared at each other before Artemis turned to her boyfriend.
“Should I be upset you're flirting with her? 또는 just accept the fact that blondes are attractive?”
Wally looked uneasy and guilty.
“Accept the fact that all blondes are attractive?” Wally asked hopefully.
Artemis shook her head and readied her bow. Wally dashed away, fearing her deadly aim.
“Connor? Are 당신 okay?”
“Megan. I'm fine. Why?”
“It's just really quiet. I was a little worried.”
“Oh.”
Megan sat 다음 to her boyfriend, taking his hand.
“Are 당신 sure you're okay? 당신 seem...stressed.”
“No. I'm fine.”
Megan narrowed her eyes and looked around the room. Her eyes landed on a crumpled newspaper and she retrieved it. Smoothing it out, Megan saw what was on the front cover.
“Oh Connor!”
“I just don't understand. How did he accept this Supergirl but not me?”
“Oh! I don't know. Maybe he finds 당신 a bit temperamental and unruly and undisciplined.”
Connor looked up into Megan's eyes. His girl smiled.
“He may not want you, but I wouldn't have 당신 any other way.”
Connor smiled and brought their lips together.
“Hey Kaldur.”
Megan and Artemis sat on either side of their leader. He was staring out at the ocean, his face thoughtful and contemplating.
“Hello my friends.”
“What are 당신 doing out here?” Megan asked.
“Thinking.”
“Duh! About what?” Artemis pried.
“Humans. They seem so confident and secure. But one thing can change them to doubtful and intimidated. Why is that?”
“We as humans just tend to under-analyze details. And then some of us are so paranoid about something, we get confident. I mean, we take one aspect of the situation, figure it out, and think we've got all the answers. But we never really look at the whole picture. Therefore, humans have personality disorders,” Artemis finished.
“Humans are complex,” Megan decided.
Kaldur smiled a little, returning his gaze to the water.
“What do 당신 think about Cassie?” Artemis asked.
“I do not believe she is trust worthy. I've been watching her closely. So far, she is not a threat”-Megan and Artemis scoffed at this-“but I wish us to watch her.”
“Becca was right. I knew someone would believe us!”
Megan heaved a sigh of relief and Kaldur furrowed his eyebrows together in confusion.
“You already know of something?” he asked.
“Yeah! Becca was right. Cassie attacked her that 일 and, being the coward she is, Cassie screamed. Becca's taken a couple beatings from Cassie.”
A strange thing happened at that moment. The sound of several crashes sounded and then Becca came flying through the mountain wall. She skidded to a stop on the sand.
“Becca!”
Megan was there first, turning the girl over. Blood was everywhere on Becca's face. Her legs were shaking and her arms were 더 많이 than bruised.
“Becca are 당신 okay?!” Artemis asked.
Becca coughed furiously and blood exited from her mouth.
“Artemis, call Batman! Megan, get her to the medical wing! Find her blood type and get someone to fill in the 로스트 blood! Now!!”
“Are 당신 sure? She seemed really sad when she left. And she lied about needing to be alone.”
