"Chatting with the inferiors?"
I shivered in my sweater. I didn't like the idea of being in a graveyard at night. I stood 다음 to Superman, who was staring at the sky.
"Who's Darkseid?" I asked, forgetting that I wasn't on speaking terms with him.
He sighed, looking at me now. "Darkseid is the ruler of the planet, Apokolips. Apokolips is the worst place to be in, 초 only to Hell." His gaze lingered to Jenny's grave.
"And so he wants Jenny's powers?" I pressed.
He nodded. "He was actually after 당신 when 당신 were the Avatar, but he stopped looking for 당신 when 당신 joined the team. With the power of the Avatar, he has enough powers to destroy the country."
"But he would also be getting your powers," I whispered. "Jeannette has a bit of your blood."
He was about to reply, when his eyes widened. "Look out!" he shouted, shoving me to the ground and covering me with his body.
"What's happening?" I shrieked, even though I knew the answer.
Right where I was standing, there was a gaping hole made from laser beams. Standing in it, was a man with a bluish armor and a gray face.
"Superman," he said in a rough voice. "Chatting with the inferiors?" His eyes flashed red, and 슈퍼맨 flew us upward.
The league sped over to Jenny's grave, determined to stop him. 슈퍼맨 landed us in the front.
Darkseid floated toward us, then stopped just a few feet away. "Granny?"
Granny? Is that some alien term? A pompous image appeared from behind him. As it stepped into the light, I could see it 더 많이 clearly.
She was an old woman, but looked very healthy. Her white hair was until her shoulders, and her body was covered in green and yellow armor.
Her voice was as crackly as nails on chalkboard. "Yes, master?"
Darkseid chuckled. "Take the girls and destroy them. I'll retrieve the body."
Girls?
Suddenly, six woman appeared out of nowhere. A lady in a black suit aimed for me, and I dodged her. In her hands was a rope attached to a skull at the end.
She waved it above her head, and grabbed me from far away. She dragged me toward another woman in a green costume, her mouth opened, showing several sharp teeth.
I kicked the snake lady in her mouth, and untied myself.
"Protect the grave at all costs!" 슈퍼맨 shouted, which started the battle.
I ran back to Jeannette's grave, and joined the team. They all looked as horrified as I felt, but that didn't stop us.
Megan used her telekinesis to stop the female furies from attacking us.
"Erica, behind you!" Artemis shouted, aiming her 애로우 at something from behind me.
I turned around. An 애로우 hit Darkseid's face, but it broke in the process.
He smiled. "None of 당신 are strong enough to defeat Darkseid! The lord of Apokolips!" His eyes glowed red again, and we jumped out of his way.
The rays hit the dirt, digging it into the ground.
"NO!" I screamed, flinging myself at him.
He grabbed my face, and started sqeezing it. "You were my target for 17 years, and now I meet you, when 당신 don't even have powers anymore."
He threw me at the tree, and I felt blood coming down my face.
He flew into the hole of the grave. I gasped, not wanting to see it. When he came back out, he lasered us again.
Jeannette was in his arms, as perfect as she was when she was alive.
The last thing I saw was a flash of white light.
"In her hands was a rope attached to a skull at the end."
