We walked down the stairs. He was holding my hand. His skin was ice cold, no, way colder than that, but it felt nice. His hand was perfectly smooth, and hard, like he was a walking statue, only 더 많이 perfect.
He smiled at me.
"Would 당신 like to experience my kind of transportation?"
"Meaning,"I was confused, we already rode in his car.
"I like to run, so does the rest of my family."
His family? Oh. It was a vampire thing, maybe we were running somewhere.
"Like 십자가, 크로스 Country 또는 Track and Field?"
"Something like that,"he said with a crooked grin. I couldn't keep my eyes off of him.
"Uh, that would be awesome."So, I wasn't the most athletic person, sure I used to play 농구 and 축구 in my free time, I never tried out for the team.
"Climb on."
Huh? Was he going to carry me?
"You mean, like a piggy back ride?"
I had to ask, that way I wouldn't embarrass myself.
"Yeah."
"Okay."
Well at least I wouldn't slow him down. But I wasn't sure how to procede. So I jumped and grabbed my wrists after they had wrapped around his marble neck and he pulled me into a better position.
"Carlisle, Esme, Alice, Jasper, Rosalie, Emmett, meet at the clearing now,"I heard him say. This confused me because they were no where near us.
"What?"
"We have supersensitive hearing, so they could hear me, even though they were all inside the house and I spoke at a normal conversation level, if not lower."
"Cool."
Wow, so he could hear me even if I was inside the house and whispering? That is so awesome, I wish I could do that.
"We also have great sight too. I can see every vein in every leaf on that 단풍, 메이플 tree,"he told me, pointing to a 나무, 트리 about 33 yards away.
"You can? That is really cool."
That would be so cool, to be able to see perfectly. I mean sure my eyes aren't that bad, perfect 20/20 vision as a human, but vampire eyes are way better.
"Let's run,"he said.
He started walking, that's what it felt like, then I opened my eyes, and he was actually running. That's amazing!
Wow! Tis is really fast, and the air, that's even better, it feels like I'm flying. It feels so natural. Like I'm riding on a motorcycle that's going 200 miles per hour. It is one of the best feelings I've ever had.
Then he slowed to a walk and let me down, I couldn't believe how fast he was. I wish I was that fast. I looked around. We were in a large clearing. It was beautiful.
"If 당신 want, 당신 can watch us play baseball."
Baseball?
"Vampires play baseball?"
"It's the all-American past time. Besides, it's fun. Of course, we have to wait for a thunderstorm."
"Why?"
This confused me, why would they need a thunderstorm?
"Because when we collide, we make a sound like a crashing bolder 또는 thunder, and it's quite loud,"he explained.
Then the most beautiful family walked through the trees and joined us. It was time for him to fulfill his promise.
