Probably but remember he wasnt really 'in' 사랑 with Bella...he was just being pulled to the part of her that would later become Renesmee and he couldnt walk away.
Walk away?? C´mon Bella was IN 사랑 with him, she didn´t want him to walk way! Why 당신 Team Edward girls are always trying to deny Bella LOVED Jacob? I just don´t get it! Have 당신 read the 책 at all? She was in 사랑 with him. Too. But she always loved Edward 더 많이 that´s it :P
So if 당신 have read the 책 당신 woudl know Bella said once that Jacob was right all the time! She really was IN 사랑 with him. This is part from an Eclipse chapter: I'd been lying to myself. Jacob was right. He'd been right all along. He was 더 많이 than just my friend. That's why it was so impossible to tell him goodbye — because I was in 사랑 with him. Too. I loved him, much 더 많이 than I should, and yet, still nowhere near enough. I was in 사랑 with him, but it was not enough to change anything; it was only enough to hurt us both more. To hurt him worse than I ever had. I didn't care about 더 많이 than that — than his pain. I 더 많이 than deserved whatever pain this caused me.
Bella didn´t want him to back off! Bella always need Jacob Yeah everyone knows that she always loved Edward 더 많이 but she loved Jacob too! She need him.. 더 많이 than Jacob needed her in my opinion...

It's partially Bella's fault. She didn't want him to completely back off which made him think that there was a chance he could get her to 사랑 him 더 많이 than Edward. I give him props for trying, I mean he did 사랑 her.
