The only TRUE curse words are hateful ones (n*gger, fag, retard, ect).
Fuck,Shit, ect, are made up words that *became* slang curse words and therefor to me are the equivalent of saying "migooshkee boopdity ogpooty" and having them deemed offensive by some boob out there.

the fcc (federal communications commision) isn't being strict enough, in my opinion. they're letting too much stuff slip already

No, this would just result in a slew of lawsuits that would cost the taxpayers millions, if not billions, of dollars. The FCC regulates offensive and obscene material (and the distinction between them) on the idea of "community standards". The chance that community standards would change to the extent that such language would be acceptable to everyone is nil. It's too important as a curse word.

I think that it doesn't matter. People obviously are going to be influenced to curse, and so if we cuss anyway, y does it matter if we hear it on TV

It is so archaic that we still make that tiny little word mean so much. Why should it matter? Freedom of speech is something we value. Sure, no need to throw it into casual conversation with your Grandmother, and you should know when not to use it (though I still don't see why it's important), but come on.

Besides, you choose what you watch. If it offends you, turn it off. I think it's meaningless and I don't see the point of censoring it. It's out there anyway.
