I actually think that all four of them have had a hard life!!! We can't actually choose between the four trying to figure out who had the hardest life cause it totally obvious that neither of them have had an easy life!

her father walked out on her and her mom, she's always gotta maintain an image and she's got issues with her weight and self-esteem. deffo one of the more relatable characters and also has to go thru the worst stuff. next would be spencer or aria, a family with too much pressure and a cheating dad are terrible too. emily doesnt even have it bad, she's just frustrated with herself.

Or Aria! I mean come on if you saw your dad cheat on your mum! You'd be devestated! Also having to keep it a secret from her! I feel really sorry for her!
Spencers parents are control freaks! And her sister is annoyingly too perfect!! Yuck!

Her entire family is horrible! Haven't really seen it in depth yet on the show, but just in book one alone it's really clear that Melissa is the fave daughter and nothing Spencer does is gonna make any difference at all! So very despicable! Also Hannah, whose situation is more in depth in the books too! ;(

I feel like Hanna's mom will never be grateful to her, and that makes me feel really sorry. I don't know how you could live like that. She just has to face disappointment all the time.

Then again, Spencer has to live up to a lot, as well, but for some reason, I feel like she can have forgiveness from her family. (Maybe not her sister)

Aria because her dad Cheated on her mom then ask to keep it a secret then she has to deal with them arguing!

Emily has and I feel like they all have though.

Obviously they've all had hardships but I do think Spencer has had it the worst. Even in the books, she takes one huge hit after another in her life. My second choice would be Emily.

My parents have great expectations for me too & I'm kinda of misunderstoond at school.

well spencer does not hate her sister but hanna hates her step sister and aria she knows how to handle everything and emily the really only thing that she is having trouble with is maya

In the books, Spencer is almost like the forgotten child. Her mom and dad praise Melissa more even though Spencer exceeds just as much (or maybe even more) than her Melissa.

Spence,while they all do have it very hard and A's no help for them but there's a lot going on with Spencer there's just so much secrets and lies going on between her family and it seems like her father just cares about winning most times and not only that but she had a brother that she didn't even know about there's just so much going on for her..it's just hard to believe what's real or not with her family.

I picked aria because her dad put her in that situation, and if he really cared about her he would have came clean. He put her in a horrible position, and she is only a kid.

I don't think Aria has it that bad her father cheated on her mum but its ok and thats her only problem the rest she brought on her self like dating her teacher: Spencer - unbearable sister, just found out that her 'dead' friend's brother is her brother too, her family is just dodgy, great expectations. Hanna - weight prblems, reputation to maintain, money issues, her mum stole money and slept with police to get her of the hook, unbearable step family. Emily - Her mum wasn't happy that she was gay, she just came to terms with being gay, her girlfriend was murdered, she killed someone, she can't swim anymore which was basically her life, her dad's in the army so she barely ever gets to see him let alone not knowing ifhe's ok, her dad'ds got a heart condition.

To have to live with the feelings that you got abandoned by your father is the worst. Then Spencer. Then Emily. Then Aria.
