It would be a close battle but I think Paul would win. After all these are two of Ash's closest rivals!

It would be a very close battle. But I feel like Paul was more focused on training his Pokemon, so they became stronger than Gary's ever did. I would love to see this battle though.

omg....my mind got blown wen having to answer this question...but after giving this question all the thought i had....i am deciding that if it wasnt a tie between them....gary wud win by just so little.....similiar to who ash BARELY beat paul at the sinnoh league...except this match wud b even CLOSER....i wud do anything to c this match!

Treating your Pokemon better doesn't mean you'll win, Ash lost to Shinji a bunch of times and he treats his Pokemn better. Plus Shinji's Pokemon love him and I will fight for him, he also has a better battling style and plus Gary doesn't even do battles anymore, he's a Pokemon professor.

This would be very close,and it would be a very fun battle to watch..and I think that depends on what type of Pokemon they use and which moves they use and how many Pokemon they would be able to use,I think it's all up to their strategy and how they react to a certain move being used,and on..but I think Shinji-kun would win.

Gary only got most votes cause he's the original rival. It's the same with Misty being the original girl....

Treating your Pokemon with love really makes a difference but strategy counts too and if comes to strategy Paul beats Gary by maybe a inch.

Gary is hardworking and has competitive nature.
And Gary does not got more votes just because he is 1st rival.
