This is a little thing I will review about the characters in MLP and their pros and cons. Cons will most likely be why they are on a hate side of the fandom.

Twilight Sparkle is the main protagonist of the whole series, since there are rarely any episodes she doesn't appear in that I remember. She has earned alicornhood for making new magic from Friendship that the all-known Starswirl the Bearded could not do, since he did not understand friendship like Twilight did.

Her 디자인 is pretty simple. Not as simple as Applejack's, but still pretty simple. She has soothing, girly 색깔 but they're not in-your-face 담홍색, 핑크 like Pinkie Pie. Her bangs are also simple, and she has a normal unicorn almond-shaped eye. I dunno why they always put a gradient on Twilicorn merchandise, but eh.

Then, here's where the whole "Twilight is a Mary Sue" thing. Let's see a list on the aesthetics of a Sue:

1: They have a crazy design. (Ex: neon 무지개, 레인 보우 accessories, in your face harestyle)

2: They are flawless, as in they have no weaknesses

3: This may be the same as above, but they can do no wrong.

4: Basically, they are as close to perfect as they can be in every way, shape 또는 form.

Now, let's compare Twilight to all of those.

1: As I said, she has a soothing and simple 디자인 even for an alicorn, as the others have much longer manes.

2: Twilight can defeat villains, yes, but the major ones? She can't defeat them alone. And in her personality traits; Lesson Zero and Feeling Pinkie Keen are prime examples that show her stubbornness.

3: Same as above.

4: Therefore, she is not perfect and not a Mary Sue.
