A 레이 of light hit Hugh’s face and made him open his eyes. They were so heavy. He looked at the ceiling above hm. White. He looked around himself. He was in the hospital. And he was still alive.
His chest didn’t hurt anymore. That was when he noticed the low sound of machines he was hooked up to.
He was alive.
Hugh exhaled, as he did, his eyes fell on the bottom of the stiff hospital bed. There she was.
Lisa. Sleeping, sitting on a chair brought close to the bed, her head resting 의해 his feet.
Hugh felt a smile tugging at his lips. He was still in his perfect world. Sure, he would have to set things straight with Lisa, but he was still in his world. That was the only thing that mattered.
Hugh took in Lisa’s appearance. She changed. Somebody must have brought her some new clothes so she could stay over night.
He looked out of the window. The sun was just rising above the city of Los Angeles. Everything was so calm.
Hugh didn’t know how long he stayed watching the sun slowly get higher on the sky, when Lisa started stirring.
Soon, she opened her eyes and a big smile hit her face.
“You’re back” a shock flicked through her face. She quickly got up and approached him. Hugh searched for her hand. The look in Lisa’s eyes when he squeezed her hand, Hugh could have sworn was somewhat confused.
“Yeah” he managed to say, Lisa smiling at him.
“I was so afraid” she said softly, their hands still intertwined.
“I know…” Hugh said, smiling back at her. Then he added “Where are the kids?”
Lisa looked at him, then her eyes fell on the machines Hugh was hooked up to. Hugh felt her loosen her hand, but Hugh just squeezed it more.
“I told them to get some sleep, they were here every day” her eyes fell on his again, and a little bit hesitating, she ran her free hand through his hair.
Hugh was bemused. Every day…?
“How long was I out?” he frowned, his grip on Lisa’s hand tightening some more. She didn’t respond, she just remained on looking at him. Her eyes, Hugh noticed- they were a bit different. Almost like full of longing.
“Well? How long?” he demanded.
Lisa bit her lower lip as if she didn’t know how to tell him.
“Three days…” she ran her hand through his hair again, avoiding his gaze. “What were 당신 thinking, Hugh?” she asked warily.
Hugh tried to realize whether she was talking about the ‘Lost daddy’ game 또는 something else.
When he didn’t respond, she added “We were all so scared… Steve came to visit” she looked at the machines again, a tear forming in her eye.
“Billy, Charlie and Becca were so afraid” now, she looked at him, right in the eyes.
Hugh loved her eyes, they were so clear, even with tears in them, it was like they were trying to talk to him. He loved everything about her.
“What about Elyon and Nick” he asked as he watched a tear rolling down her cheek. Her facial expression changed all of sudden, almost like -
“Who?” - she didn’t know of whom he was talking about. “Hugh, are 당신 ok?”
She glared a little.

Oh, no… Hugh looked around him.
No…
No!
He wanted it to be true! But she said… she said he was out for three days.
Three days!!!
Those three days he had been happy with his family. Hugh felt his eyes fill with tears.
Nothing of it was real!
No!
Why?
Hugh hated what was going on with him. Those three days never happened.

But, everything made sense now. She said Steven came to visit. So, the time when Steve was in the hospital, Hugh was ‘talking’ to him in the back yard.
Oh, God! This wasn’t happening!
But… What the hell had happened???

“What happened to me?” Hugh asked, the shock taking over him. It had been so real!!!
“That’s what I wanted to ask you” Lisa glared at him “You took too many sleeping pills… with your tea” her voice broke
“I called you, and when 당신 didn’t answer, I came to your house… Hugh” she paused, another tear rolling down her cheek “Hugh… I found 당신 in your bed, unconscious, divorce papers on the nightstand…” she sobbed “I thought 당신 wanted to kill yourself” she sobbed again.

Oh, no… Now it all got back to him.
The divorce papers… He got them that day, on Friday. Jo wanted a divorce cause she… she thought there was something 더 많이 going on between Hugh and Lisa other than them being friends. She thought he felt something for Lisa.
But nothing had ever happened between them. And he certainly hadn’t intended to kill himself…
He had been crushed, he must have had 로스트 the count of the pills. He just wanted to sleep. Get away… from reality.

Hugh gasped.
That was why he had dreamt of what he dreamt of.
He had gotten away from the reality…
But it felt so real.
Hugh shook his head.
Lisa, brought her gaze up and her tear-filled eyes met his blank ones.
“You were in coma for three days… 당신 were…” her voice broke again “almost dead”
She fell in his arms, he wrapped them around her.
Then it downed on Hugh.
He was almost dead. So, maybe he was in heaven. It sure seemed like one.
Perfect family, the biggest worry - severing Becca’s room.
“Were 당신 here all the time?” Hugh asked, his voice broke as well.
“Yeah…” Lisa replied, her head buried in his chest “I mean, I was out only when I went to my parents… I took your kids with me…”
The kids. So, that part of dream was deciphered. They must have flown over when they heard what happened.
Hugh was almost dead. So, reality had gotten trough to him. That was why the kids had been there, that was why Steven had been there.
But why had Teri been there?
Lisa sobbed in Hugh’s arms. She was real. And he as holding her. She was so beautiful to him. Hugh moved so she could lie down 다음 to him. Her head again on his chest.
“Teri Weiss?” Hugh whispered and Lisa brought her head up to meet his eyes.
“She was visiting her cousin, and she heard 당신 were here… She’s a big 팬 of yours” Lisa barely smiled.

Lisa was real. And even in reality, she cared for him.
She had come to his house to check on him, she had rescued him. She had stayed 의해 his side for three days. Only leaving when necessary.
Maybe Lisa, the one from his ‘dream’, had been right.
Maybe this Lisa, lying 다음 to him, her head on his chest, maybe, just maybe she felt the same he had for her.
“How do 당신 know about Teri?” Lisa asked of bewilderment as her hand went up and down his chest. Hugh looked at her, he just had to try.
“Lisa… I 사랑 you”
Lisa’s head shot up.
