Three years ago, there I stood, in a ball, where a celebration of a friend of my father’s birthday was held. I, a young blue lad, remain in the same spot where I’ve rooted myself onto, rejecting myself from the socialisation. I dislike these kinds of parties, it irritates me, for, to my view such parties are nothing but to just show off the interiors of one’s 집 and it is also the time where parents take their chances to pair up their children. This is the life in the Victorian era, where marriage is mostly arranged 의해 parents.
Such life is poison to me. I am bored of living under the control of my parents and wish to get out this age adolescence. I want to quickly grow up and get out of this cage. I want to be an adventurer which sings for my life. Yes, I 사랑 singing, it was a part of my life, and I just can’t imagine living without it. Even so, this voice of mine is not to be shared with anybody for the time being. As, if I reveal this 노래 voice of mine, I would be the target of every parent in this town to marry their daughters with me. I want to be single forever; I don’t want to be tied up. I want to realize my dream and this is the only way I’ll be out of this wretched life of mine.
Well, this is my perception of life.....before...... I met her. The very beautiful girl, dressed in emerald, a colour which will never fail to catch one’s eyes. Her hair, eyes, dress, shoes, every inch of her is green, that it dazzles me. Slowly, I started to realise that my 심장 skipped a number of beats.
She was walking towards me, in a grace that I have never seen in other young ladies that I had been introduced to. Her medium length hair sways as she walked. I can feel myself swallowing my saliva, as I try to contain my further reaction. Then, there she stood, right in front of me. She looked even 더 많이 beautiful than ever, and this caused my blood to burn inside of me. However, I am strong enough to manage a straight face. She gave me a coy curtsey and smiled to me the most beautiful, innocent smile. However, my ego is higher than this feeling of admiration that I have towards her and instead of returning a smile to her, I just give her the cold look that I gave to all the girls I’ve ever met in my life.
Even so, she just continued smiling, which is much to my surprise. I felt guilty for that and decided to be a little bit courteous 의해 taking her hand and give it a light peck.
“Oh, so it seems that you’ve met her, my boy!” the booming voice of my father enters my earlobes. Such voice is very unpleasant to hear. I just wonder how I could be related to him..... It’s not that I’m saying that he is not my father..... It’s just a normal thought from a rebelling teenager.
“This is Hatsune Miku, Kaito,” the melodious voice of my mother re-soothes my earlobes. “She is the daughter of Mr. Hachiru, your Father’s friend and the person who is celebrating his birthday today.”
Oh, so it is HIS bloody birthday today. Hmph.... sadly enough that this very beautiful Hatsune Miku here is related to him. My interest had magically died down...
“Well, 당신 know, my boy...,” my father suddenly stood 의해 my side and clutched my shoulder. The look on his face made me easy to guess he is about to say. However, I’ll be an ‘obedient’ son and let him finish his sentence. “My friend and I had a talk just now.... and, we somehow, agreed to hitch 당신 and Miku-chan up. Isn’t that great news??? What will 당신 say about it, hey??”
Oh, great. He already has a nick-name for her.
“Hells no, Father,” I answered flatly.
“But, you’re already 17 years old!!!” my father hissed at me. “That age is too old for 당신 already! 당신 MUST get married as soon as possible. I need an heir for my riches 당신 know, boy!”
I sigh in exasperation. “Okay, before I accept 또는 reject (again) your offer here, may I ask 당신 the age of the girl here?”
“13 years old, Kaito,” my mother answered.
“Thirteen!!???” I accidentally shouted a little, turning some attention towards myself but the attention didn’t last long. “That is bloody young!!!”
“What the hell is the problem with her age!?” my father bellowed. “Your mother married me when she is twelve!”
Okay, that just made me sick. It sounds much 더 많이 like child oppression to me.
“I’m sorry, Father,” I said. “But I just can’t accept someone that young to be harvesting my future generation.”
I could see the girl’s eyes quiver and her face sadden as those harsh words flow out of my mouth. I suddenly felt very guilty.
“Kaito,” my mother voiced, sternly. “Even if 당신 don't want to marry her, 당신 can at least express yourself with 더 많이 courtesy! Don’t 당신 know that what 당신 said hurt her feelings!?” She then rushed to the girl’s side to comfort her. That is when I saw her tears rolling down her cheeks.
On that moment, I was baffled. This was the very first time I caused a girl to cry. However, my level of ego is still as high as ever and I don’t feel very much guilty as I should be. So, I just turn away to get my arse off this problem when a sudden thought passes through my mind.
“Father....,” I voiced. I first hesitated to say this thought of mine as I know that I am really going to regret this but..... Oh, the heck! “Father, I’ll agree to marry her but in one condition!”
The faces around me started to brighten up.
“I will only want to marry her when she reaches the age of sixteen and that for the three-year-period, she is my fiancée and that no other men are allowed to approach her! And that is final!” I then, walked out of the ballroom and into the gardens where I fret my actions back there.
Back inside the ballroom, I could hear the voice of Mr. Hachiru, my future father-in-law, happily announcing the good news of his daughter’s engagement. I sigh in exasperation. Why the hell did I mixed myself up in this?
