Raya and the Dragon is a 디즈니 animated film that was released in 2021. Like with a lot of 디즈니 animated films, it's been getting great reviews. Does it deserve that? Does it live up to the hype? That's what this review is about.

Plot:

Raya and the Last Dragon's plot is about people of different nations, who used to get along with each power, becoming rivals who fight over pieces of power. Raya's father dreamed of bringing peace to the nations, but it's Raya herself who will have to make that happen. It's up to her to find the last dragon, Sisu, and get her to bring peace to the world. Raya and Sisu are aided 의해 a group of 프렌즈 they meet along the way, but Raya's childhood rival, Namaari, is trying to stop them.

Raya and the Last Dragon is a film that benefits from having a plot that's both very serious and very optimistic. The film deals with different groups of people being distrusting and antagonistic towards each other. It deals with people who are willing to do bad things to get power. The film could be seen as a commentary on how people in real life will go too far to get power. They'll turn against 프렌즈 and start wars to achieve what they think is necessary. However, the film shows that fighting over power is wrong. It's an optimistic tale about how we can all come together and be on good terms with each other if we treat others with kindness.

The film also deals with being open-minded and friendly to people 당신 just met, while also being practical and reasonable. The two 제목 characters represent this. Raya is the one who has been lacking in trust and while she is kind and heroic, she's also ready for a fight. Sisu represents the optimistic side. She's kind, quirky and is 더 많이 than ready to become 프렌즈 with people she just met. Raya and Sisu really complete each-other and they help make the film both a cautionary tale and a joyful story about people learning to be 더 많이 accepting of others.

The film's tone is very well handled. 디즈니 works hard to make films that appeal to families. They have made several wholesome, good-natured films, but sometimes, they interrupt potentially-emotional scenes with moments of comedy relief. While this particular film has lots of silly moments, the film spends time on emotional and poignant scenes. It's an exciting and moving story, while also being fun and enjoyable.

Characters:

While Raya isn't a princess in the traditional sense, she is still being treated as Disney's newest princess. The important 질문 is if she's a good addition to the princess lineup. In my opinion, she is. Raya is a stand-out amongst female 디즈니 protagonists. She is a strong character, both physically and emotionally. She is very skilled and has sharp fighting skills. She also has a compassionate 심장 and although she tries to be hard-edged, deep down, she truly is an optimistic person. Her father, Benja, is a very compassionate and charming man who has a 심장 filled with hope. Raya and her father have a strong, touching bond.

However, the character who is truly optimistic is Sisu. Sisu is a bundle of joy. She's a treat to watch whenever she's on-screen. In my opinion, 디즈니 has struggled to make their animal characters interesting. They often seem like underdeveloped comedy reliefs. However, Sisu is a wonderful exception. She's a character with a touching backstory and a strong sense of morality. She's both a very heroic dragon and a very funny character. She's the most entertaining character in the film who gets the best jokes. While Sisu is so enjoyable that the film didn't really need other comedic characters, Raya and Sisu meet a group of comedic friends. I was worried that these characters wouldn't be charming and would hog up too much screentime. However, they are amusing characters who are used sparingly.

This film doesn't have any pure-evil supervillains. Instead, there's Namaari and her mother, Virana. Both of them are attempting to stop the 히어로즈 from accomplishing their goals. However, they both have understandable reasons for what they're doing. Both of them, especially the mother, often act morally-questionable, but neither of them are truly bad people. In fact, deep down, they both want to bring peace to the world.

Voice Cast:

Raya is voiced 의해 Kelly Marie Tran. Kelly Marie Tran is an actress who has had a difficult life when it comes to her film career. She was in two 별, 스타 Wars films: The Last Jedi and The Rise of Skywalker. 별, 스타 Wars 팬 really didn't like her character. Some of them acted like bullies who sent Kelly Marie Tran offensive, hurtful messages. Thankfully, 디즈니 has given her a chance to be the lead of a film. Kelly Marie Tran has been given the chance to prove that she's a talented voice actress. She helps give Raya charm and coolness. Kelly Marie Tran is an underrated actress that has been unfairly treated in the past. Hopefully, this film will help her get the respect that she deserves.

Sisu is voiced 의해 Awkwafina. A big part of Sisu's appeal comes from her voice. Awkwafina's voice is filled with entertaining and bubbly passion. Sisu is a character that has a lot of energy and passion. Awkwafina, who sounds an awful lot like voice-actress Cree Summer, has an excellent voice. Her performance is one of the best voice-performances from a recent 디즈니 film.

As a big 팬 of She-Ra and the Princesses of Power, I was glad that the film had two voice performers from that show. Daniel Dae Kim, who voiced King Micah in She-Ra, voices Raya's father and Sandra Oh, who voiced Castaspella in She-Ra, voices Virana. Both of them do a very good job.

Animation:

디즈니 films often have appealing-looking animation, but some films stand-out from the others. This film has great animation. Raya is animated to look like a cool and powerful action hero. The most impressive 애니메이션 comes from Sisu. Sisu spends time in the film as both a dragon and as a human. Because of this, she has two wildly-different designs. Both look wonderful and help bring Sisu's bubbly personality to life. As a dragon, she looks majestic and eloquent. As a human, she looks quirky and charmingly eccentric. Her overly-long sleeves are a real highlight.

Overall:

Raya and the Last Dragon is one of Disney's best animated films. It has a suspenseful, emotional story that's filled with uplifting optimism and joyful entertainment. Raya is a strong addition to the 디즈니 princess lineup, while Sisu is one of the most enjoyable characters in Disney's long history. If 당신 want a film about working to achieve peace and togetherness, I highly recommend this film.
My 2nd Valentine's 일 themed 기사 and this time it's about my 상단, 맨 위로 10 most romantic DP Movie Moments, hope you'll like this article

10. Pocahontas & John Smith shares their first kiss

This was a risky 옮기기 considering what happened afterwards and considering that they didn't get as much privacy as they wanted, but wow, this scene is so beautiful and romantic, the 음악 is amazing here and the 키스 is quite passionate

9. Eric shows Ariel his kingdom

I feel like one of few who doesn't find the 보트 ride scene to be romantic, it's 더 많이 of a silly scene and the song isn't even romantic...

I find that Snow has the opposite problem as Elsa: she is frequently just typed as a sensor (because 당신 know, she's all traditional and not adventurous and likes to cook and all that boring sensor stuff, right?). There's a lot of bias and stereotyping with MBTI fans, and I used to be guilty of it too (OK, sometimes I still am). though to be fair, I think Snow IS a little underdeveloped in ways, so she could really be interpreted either way. However, I'll explain why I think she uses Ni over Si.

Extraverted Feeling (Fe): No doubt about it, Snow White is warm, caring, and a social butterfly....

I did say I was going to write 크리스마스 related 기사 here, but I've been wanting to write this one for a while, but I've been putting it off because I thought that pretty much everyone had the same list, but after thinking about it some parts of the list can variate from person to person though I believe that most of 당신 will agree with my 상단, 맨 위로 5. Anyway this was 의해 far the hardest list I've ever written, the 상단, 맨 위로 5 where settled in stone, but the rest where really hard to place. I based this on many aspects, but mostly on if the princess has both her parents alive, one parent alive 또는 is...

My list hasn't changed all that much but I thought after rewatching 알라딘 I would write an updated list.

13. Merida- Not a fan, I'm all for female empowerment but I don't like her attitude. She is just so rude & I do not find her likeable.

12. Elsa- She just really bugs me. I can't think of any other reasons but she just aggravates me.

11. Anna- Not keen on her either. She is not as bad as the other two but I'm not a fan, moving on.

10. Tiana- She is too much of a workaholic. I get that she has dreams to run her own restaurant but she can have fun once in awhile.

9. Jasmine- 재스민 속, 재 스민 has really...

Inspired 의해 link, who did an amazing job(! <3), I really wanted to do my own version with 가장 좋아하는 Openings. I actually really 사랑 the original fairy tale concept of the 디즈니 Princesses and I 사랑 the openings that give a 더 많이 magical and fairy tale kind of feel. (By the way, I am primarily trying to stick to the first 2-4 minutes.) So here is my ranking of the DP film openings, I hope 당신 guys enjoy this light read! :D

12. Frozen: 겨울왕국 Heart/Ice Opening
I personally found this to be uninteresting and irrelevant to the film's magic, fairy tale and princesses (mostly) in the film. No explanation...

Trivia

1) Art director Brian McEntee color-keyed Belle so that she is the only person in her town who wears blue. This is symbolic of how different she is from everyone else around. Later, she encounters the Beast, another misfit, also wearing blue and with blue eyes. It symbolized good in the film whereas red symbolized evil (the color of Gaston's 셔츠 is red). A notable exception to this code is Gaston's blue eyes - making him the only 디즈니 villain...

I 사랑 art! I 사랑 culture, history, 음악 and I 사랑 art. I have done some posts and 투표 about the 디즈니 Princesses in reference to music, culture and fashion but not art yet so I thought I would do that next. I like to think of the 디즈니 Princesses as "cultured" young women who have manners, etiquette, decent universal knowledge and appreciation for the arts. So, in my theory of the 디즈니 Princesses being cultured, albeit each at their own levels, here are the paintings that I think each 디즈니 Princess would 사랑 the most. (I could probably find a 봉고차, 반 Gogh for each of them as I absolutely...

Happy Halloween! After much thinking about this, I think I finally came up with another 기사 that i'm sure would be interesting to talk about.

Everything lives in a balance. there can't be good without bad, light without darkness, etc etc...The dichtonomy of ying-yang and how they complement each other is a subject that I find fascinating to read about, and mostly to apply it to other things. Something interesting i noted is how often in 디즈니 the villains are pretty much the exact opposite of the heroes, but they often sometimes come from a same base. And in that base, they have much in...

I find majority of the DP 영화 to be a bit scary, but that doesn't mean that it's impossible to make a list of the scariest movies, but it wasn't an easy list to do, but as usual I hope you'll enjoy this article

12. Cinderella

Okay so the bottom 3 are the only ones I'm really sure about and especially number 12, I mean do I even need to explain why it's last? But luckily it's there for a good reason, but despite being last it does have a few scary moments, but nowhere near as much as the 영화 above

11. Frozen

This movie also lacks scary moments, but I placed it higher because it...

Because I am still in a musical mood but also ready for the "autumn/Halloween" mood, I'd like to incorporate the two! There aren't many DP villain songs 사무용 겉옷, 전반적인 but I came up with at least 9 that were good enough to use for the sake of this countdown. I rated each of the songs against how villainous the lyrics were, how villainous the 음악 sounds, how villainous the scene that accompanies the song in the film is and how villainous is the goal of the villain (or just the villain itself) 노래 the song? I ranked each song in the 4 categories and then ranked them 사무용 겉옷, 전반적인 의해 accumulative "evil"...

It is the 월 of October which, in reference to DPs, definitely makes me think of the villains! Since I enjoy themes, October will have a "Halloween, Autumn, 또는 Villain" theme in most of my posts. This one is going with 할로윈 & Villains! I still cannot add any 사진 to these 기사 but I will be doing so as soon as possible. I only included the villains that I actually remember doing an "evil laugh" in their original film:

9. Governor Ratcliffe- Pocahontas: Not really an evil laugh, 더 많이 of a "bad person" laugh. Not too scary.

I have recently learned that the red hair is a recessive gene and will eventually die out in centuries to come. To think of it, it is very sad as I absolutely 사랑 the fiery reds. So this 기사 is inspired from this recent learning and to dedicate to my favourite hairstyle among all princesses.

13. Cinderella:
I hated putting her so down, especially she being my 3rd favourite princess. I hate the length of her hair, its like neither here nor there. I'd say, being a house maid, the 조랑말 with simple tie-band suited her purpose. I actually liked her cute little braids in the morning. But when...

Since I'm being so villainous, it seemed like an appropriate time to share MY OPINIONS on DP 영화 villains and rank them in order. (Joke intended :D)

So here goes:

1. Maleficent:
with her one nasty evil stroke, she set the stage, She didn't dabble in small time efforts. Her character is the most alluring and unique. She was a fairy, but an evil one. She has the aura of an enchantress. I loved her confidence when she took the stage while casting out the spell.
The best villainy traits: downright evil, need no disguise, doesn't flaunt but does every act confidently and with most style.
