Why doesn't Merida want to get married?
I am just curious as to why people like Merida.
When I saw Brave, I know I should like her; not her mom but in reality I ended up liking her mom; but not Merida.
Normally, I like rebellious princesses but I find Merida too bratty. I don't understand why the movie acted as if having Merida getting married is the worst thing in the world. Her suitors sound nice. In Beauty and the Beast, it was easy for me to understand why Belle didn't want to marry Gaston: 1. His idea of marriage doesn't match with her idea of marriage. 2. He is a stalker. 3. He tried to blackmail her dad so she would have to marry him.
In Brave, I don't understand why Merida doesn't want to get married. Saying "I want my freedom" doesn't say much. None of her suitors and their fathers said anything about taking away her 사랑 for archery 또는 freedom. Therefore I think Merida was overeacting. I also find that the idea of her not choosing any of them to be unrealistic. In real life, she would be disowned 의해 the family for not choosing to marry one of the three boys.
