delenasalvatore You could be right. It's difficult, because we never truly knew the reason for Nian's split. But when they won the PCA after their break-up, they attended the ceremony and they still looked very friendly and seemed to be dealing with it well. Then Nikki came along. In spite of winning a PCA for the second time the following year, Nina and Ian did not attend, and a lot of fans were miffed. I strongly believe the singular reason for them not attending was Nikki. Nina has always said that she and Ian remained friends, and she still loved him and she thought he was a wonderful person (or words to that effect), and their break up wasn't because of anything terrible. If that's true, she and Ian would have no reason NOT to go to a ceremony to receive an award voted by fans. People said that maybe it was because they didn't want to start 'will they get back together now' speculation. But I disagree. Attending the PCAs would have been good P.R. People would have seen that in spite of their break-up and Nikki, Nina and Ian were still being professional and not letting it stand in the way of being co-workers. I'm pretty sure that by this time, fans were getting annoyed at Ian for various things. Ian never attended Nina's goodbye party, and although I never thought to blame Nikki for this at the time, I'm pretty sure she was to blame for this as well. What other reason could Ian have for not going? We're talking about someone who was on the show for 6 years with him, working closely with him and whom he dated for at least 2 of those years. Honestly, to NOT attend her goodbye party was very disrespectful, and it made no sense, especially if things between him and Nina were still all good. I don't think Nina ever gave a reason for wanting out of the show. I think it boiled down to one thing: she wasn't happy working there anymore. Maybe she had health reasons, like exhaustion, but couldn't the producers have taken note of this, and given her less scenes? Or couldn't they have written that Elena goes away somewhere for a couple of episodes, or even half the season, while still keeping her in the show? They could have worked round it. Nina has been very gracious about Ian and Nikki's wedding, but if her split with Ian wasn't the emotional reason behind her exit, then it seems more than likely that pressure exhibited by Nikki most certainly was. I bet Nikki wasn't at all happy about Ian working so closely with his ex, especially if she thought, or worried, that he still carried a torch for her. And if she had taken to visiting Ian on set, or hanging around all the time, then I could definitely see that things would be very uncomfortable. Maybe other people will disagree with me, and some will no doubt defend Ian and Nikki, but I reckon Nikki is very insecure, and if she didn't force Nina out of the show, she definitely put pressure on her and Ian and made things wildly awkward for them both.

cathyirishchic I couldn't agree more! I think Nina gave the excuse that she wanted to work on other things. Yeah, right. After six years she is suddenly fed up of TVD. I wouldn't have objected to her having less scenes. The fact is she didn't want to be there anymore, because of her former lover and Nikki Reed. It was amazing news that Nina and Ian won the Liplock Award at the TCA's. However Ian was absent. What a surprise! -_- I never thought it would be possible to hate Reed more than I had but I do!

loveofdelena I SO agree with this!! ian was absent...why doesn't this surprise me. I honestly cant stand him anymore. he had us all fooled. I used to believe that he was such a lovely man, so caring, and compassionate. oh how the table have turned! he is behaving like such a child! first he insults her, then he deliberately misses her leavers party, and now this??!!! this BOY seriously needs too grow up, and except the fact that not everyone is going to be a fan of his precious wife. I wouldn't even mind him being with nikki reed, if it weren't for how he has been behaving all the time that he has been with her. im sorry, but NOONE could accuse ian of being annoying and selfobsessed when he was with nina. REALLY??? and you make up as many outrageous excuses as you all want to try and excuse his behavior, but the fact of the matter is, he made this mess, and now he has too deal with the consequences. im sorry. but its the honest truth. hes changed ever since he has been with Nikki reed. everything that's happing to him right now, is the result of his own childish actions. and you cant go on about Nina, because so far, she is the only one out of the three of them, who has been so mature and respectable about this. she hasn't said one bad word against Ian, or nikki but he has nothing but bullshit to say about her. and I am so beyond tired of being labeled as bitter and a bully for simply stating the facts and for calling Mr. high and mighty out on his constant bullshit!! its seriously pissing me off!!!

loveofdelena im so glad that nina left this show, its the best she ever did. she was never going to be treated fairly had she remained there. they were destroying her character something wicked.

cathyirishchic You have made some really good points @loveofdelena. I don't really know Ian outside of TVD, I still love him because of Damon Salvatore. He's hot! :) I admire him for his love of animals but I'm definitely not saying that he's a saint. He has been behaving like an idiot and is wrong - with his fans and Nina. I thought it was very ignorant for him not to attend the events like her goodbye party and the awards. I still am a fan of Nian and I always will be. I loved them together. I know of course that Ian is a grown man but it seems that he has been forced to make these decisions. I couldn't believe when he unfollowed Nina from Twitter. Why do that? She was interviewed, these were her words: "I've said this before, that we didn't break up because anything bad happened or because there wasn't love or friendship. I love him and the friendship is still strong and I think he's great and I care about him. And that didn't change. Yes, we're professional and that's fine. We were friends long before we dated and still are now." I wholeheartedly blame Nikki Reed for everything! I hope Ian sees her for what she truly is. I mean she was married before! What does that tell you? I hate her!

loveofdelena To be honest, I'm torn about wanting nian, and wanting Nina to be as far away from ian as possible. Don't get me wrong, I will always be a fan of nian no matter what, because it's a reminder, of when ian was a lovely and down too earth man. Back when he wasn't a selfobssesed child. Back when he adored his co star, and he treated her like you would a rare diamond. But now....I'm seriously finding it hard finding out if there is anything nice about this man. And yes, he's still pretty hot, but for me, his looks simply pale in comparison to his recent behaviour. And I don't believe for one minute that they are best friends.

loveofdelena for me, it used to be that I loved damon because it was ian who played him. well, no longer. now its all about me putting up with ian, only because he plays my favorite character. THAT is the only reason I still tolerate ians bullshit. its ALL for damon, nothing more.

In the past I wouldn't have bothered reading about celebrities and their personal lives outside of the TV show. I still love Damon and always will. It's just Julie Plec that is destroying him currently. :(
