Since he was under orders to take things easy for a while, Eight did just that, and gladly. It was unusual to let a full 일 go to waste, for him, if he wasn't doing something noteworthy he got a little antsy.
Luckily for him, the 일 was filled with the laughter of friends, so to say it was a wasted 일 would be an outright fabrication. Any time spent with the Omegas was fun. It may not have been work for the betterment of the pack, but it was nowhere near dull. To 상단, 맨 위로 it all off, it made him feel 더 많이 at home, less like he was just going through the motions to appease a group while he lived on their land as an outsider. Zen and his crew accepted him completely as one of their own. And he was happy to oblige them with is presence when he could.
It looked like the 다음 few days would see much of them.
On this 일 in particular, even the Omegas had no plans. They sat about all day, talking 또는 scuffling while Eight watched. Zen was a mite protective on this point, he wouldn't allow Eight to engage in any activity that might bother with his healing process - Not that Eight even thought that he'd be in and amongst them, jumping, biting and barking anyway. It was good to see that the others cared enough for him, even if he wasn't a clan member. Zen, like the doting older brother of the group, watching out for his siblings and keeping an eye on things, The twins, Grunt and Darriel, the muscle of the bunch (not that either of them had much else to offer), Mingo, nervous Mingo. Nervous for a reason, as any other 늑대 their could easily crush his small frame to dust, And Lilac. The softer side of the group. She was one of the guys for all intents and purposes, but she was much 더 많이 than that, she was the 심장 of the group.
Eight wondered where he might fit in, in their minds and hearts, though, to at least one member of the five, he knew where they hoped he might fit in.

The 일 progressed and the group had relocated to the riverbank that Eight was so fond of. Just as beautiful as ever. The crystalline waters rolled effortlessly and placidly along the edges of the bank creating a soothing sound of washing and trickling. It was 냉각기 out today, clouds hung overhead blotting out the sun well enough to see to that. The covering in the sky higher up was lighter gray getting darker and 더 많이 sparse while progressing closer to the earth. The clouds on bottom moved quickly with the wind and carried the scent of rain, but they were so scattered that any drops that fell from the sky were gone before anyone noticed.
The six of them lay around with each other, relaxing after a hard 일 of play-fighting and running about. They all spoke on many subjects, life, love, thoughts, ideas and theories, passing from one topic to the next. Eight lay on his back, as did 라일락 꽃, 라일락 and the Twins, Zen would toss from one side to the other while Mingo slipped in and out of sleep.
Hours of the 일 passed happily along, the gang couldn't have been 더 많이 content with life.
Eight shifted to his stomach and began to stand, raising eyebrows all around him as he creaked and groaned all the way up, stretching out some. His side was sore and his joints were stiff from sitting for so long, an unfortunate part of the healing process.
"You alright man?" Grunt asked, the others seemingly sharing in the mild concern for his wellbeing.
"Hmm? Oh, yeah, yeah... Just need to walk it out a little, damn leg's getting stiff."
"Oh well, we'll come with you." Zen offered as he flipped from his side to his stomach.
"Nah, nah, don't let me get in your way." Eight disagreed, smiling some as he stretched, "I wouldn't mind seeing some of the sites anyway. Shouldn't be gone long."
"Alright then. Just, don't make us mount a 검색 party." Zen replied, switching back over to his back.
Eight nodded and smiled warmly before turning to leave.
He traced along the riverbank for some time, the ground turned from stone and sand to 잔디 and mud in places, then back to sand. It changed frequently so Eight watched his step as he trekked along slowly, working the soreness from his bones.
He'd stop only so often to stretch "ooh"ing and "Ahh"ing as his leg would pop 또는 send a spark of pain up his side.
The clouds in the sky grew darker as he went along, as though they were gathering up for a good rain. He hadn't seen rain in so long, it would be a welcome change, so far as he didn't get caught up in the middle of it.
Eight shifted his eyes along the sprawling landscape before him. It unfolded only as he went around. To his right was the river, now further off, the banks becoming muddy and the terrain turning into overgrowth of shrubs and grass. To his left was a 나무, 트리 line hiding a dense forest. He imagined to the best of his knowledge that beyond that would be the edge of the Clan's field.
He went along before he caught a scent, very familiar too, he knew quickly what, 또는 rather, who it was. He had been walking into the wind the whole way, so there was no telling how long he was being followed. It was luck that wisped the scent up to him, and even 더 많이 fortunate that it wasn't a predator.
He stopped to turn and saw 라일락 꽃, 라일락 closing the distance between them. She padded up to him and stopped, he greeted her,
"Well 저기요 there, little one." He smiled at her.
She smiled back and rebutted,
"Careful with that 'Little One' talk, toughie, I can still take you." She grinned. All that playing and scuffling earlier in the 일 brought out the little 불, 화재 she worked so well to conceal.
Eight laughed out loud, turning fully toward her,
"I believe 당신 just might! So, what brings 당신 up? Bored? The other kids picking on ya?" He teased at her playfully. In truth, Eight enjoyed her company, even though he didn't quite know how to say it out loud. The only females he had experience with were his sisters. Until now. And he quite enjoyed the way it made him feel.
"Zen says its going to rain soon, he thought we should pack it in for the 일 so I volunteered to come and let 당신 know."
Eight looked back at the clouds that were now hanging overhead, they looked so distant before.
"Well, aren't 당신 just the good samaritan." he smiled and shifted his weight to his good leg.
"Well, I had already planned on coming to find 당신 anyways." She turned her attention away as her small truth began to unravel.
"Oh really, do tell, what ever for?" Eight playfully provoked her, his ears straight up as he put on the act that someone may when they pretend to be surprised 또는 inquisitive.
At this point she began to realize that her facade was slipping away. "Just to talk...".
"Talk about what?" Eight prodded on, stepping toward her a couple of paces, trying to pry her feelings from her. He still joked, but it was truly all he knew to do, stay sunny and press forward. So that was his tactic.
"I just wanted to... t-talk... ask. I wanted to..." She stammered and fidgeted a little, trying to avoid the topic that they were now in the middle of. As she struggled to keep her feelings to herself, drops started to come down all around them. Neither of them noticed.
Eight's 심장 beat with anticipation, Lilac's did the same, mixed with mild doubt and backed with fear.
Eight took another slow, gentle step toward her, the distance between them now inches. 라일락 꽃, 라일락 stammered for another brief moment as the rain came closer.
"Lilac..." Eight spoke softly for her attention, moving his head down so that he would enter her field of vision briefly. She picked her head up to look at him, they were so close now but she dared not to turn away again. Her pale blue eyes locked into his and he almost 로스트 himself. They stood in silence and the world melted away around them. The tension between them was thick, now their hearts raced and each wondered what to do, but it was that very same tension that made their hearts feel light, and their heads swim, it was that same shared uncertainty that kept them glued to one another's gaze, and it was that same shared moment that made the uncertainty fade off like a vapor. At this point words were unnecessary, they both knew what each other thought.
라일락 꽃, 라일락 began to speak, her voice came for just a syllable and then stopped. She broke out of her trance and tilted her head up and looked all around at the world, now becoming wetter as the rain started down on them. Eight remained in his trance, waiting for her to speak, his breath heavy and ears ringing with anticipation.
"We should go..." She said loudly over the muting sound of rain drops hitting the earth around them. She turned to leave but Eight stood there for a moment, feeling the flutter in his 심장 turn a little painful. She was right, they didn't have time right then, but the moment was so perfect. He cleared his throat and shook his head, his eyes breaking from her form and begin to follow after her.

They met with Zen and the others as quickly as they could, just a few 분 ahead of the downpour behind them. The six of them turned and began through the woods, toward the den, as many 늑대 would have started to do 의해 now.
There were few words, aside from Mingo and the twins playing once in a while as they went on. Eight trailed behind the five Omegas on their way through the field, finding his stride, the pain in his side dwarfed now 의해 the feeling in his chest and the storm of thoughts in his mind.
If only he hadn't wasted time gawking. If only it hadn't started raining. How would that perfect moment come to pass again?
He looked 앞으로 and watched 라일락 꽃, 라일락 for a moment, her thoughts in the same line as Eights. She traveled ahead of him now, instead of right beside him, battling with her own mild sense of doubt and remorse.

This wouldn't be the last time, Eight decided then and there. 다음 time would be different, 다음 time would be soon. He just needed to pull her aside, he just needed to tell her how he felt. How could that be so difficult?

The five Omegas reached the 굴, 덴 and filed their way in with Eight trailing behind them. They each made it back before the rain. Now all that was left to do is watch in wonder as the sky cleansed the earth, though at this point, Eight didn't have the same respect for the coming storm as he did earlier. He didn't care for the rain. As he padded through the den, making his way around this 늑대 and that, he kept his gazed fixed on what he did want, Lilac.
But now, as she tried to pay less attention to him, still glancing over to him as he stared back, the other side of the 굴, 덴 may as well have been a hundred miles away.
