The new Zayn Malik-related rumour on the mill is that despite Simon Cowell\'s advice that he should take some time out to enjoy life, El Maliko is actually currently preparing to hit the MTV VMA\'s stage with none other than The Weeknd.

Yep, according to a \'source\' - nice and dubious, we know - there\'s a reason Zayn was spotted leaving a Steak House in Beverly Hills with mum Tricia, and that reason is that he\'s actually in town to make his official debut as a solo star during the ceremony.

"His mum flew out especially they\'re close so she wanted to see her son\'s big day," the source told The Mirror.

Oh, and apparently he\'s been a busy bee practising his vocal riffs and perfecting his high notes because the source continued: "He\'s been rehearsing all day. Obviously when you spend so much time with a band and a group you have support so now he\'s on his own it\'s different."

Well, we definitely know that Zayn is a fan of The Weeknd after he posted that Tweet saying he was listening to him: "High for this ... Weekend tune on a Tuesday ha"

However, we have absolutely no idea what to make about the rumours Zayn might be gracing the VMA\'s stage this weekend, and we actually feel quite scared/excited/exhilirated about the show now.
