He\'s going to be one hell of a hard act to follow but these characters might just do it.

Apocalypse is set to be the villain in the 2016 X-Men movie, X-Men: Apocalypse. The mutant, who is also known as En Sabah Nur, has finally been shown on screen in the post-credits scene of this year’s X-Men: Days of Future Past, where he was seen using his vast telekinetic powers to build the pyramids in ancient Egypt.

The blue-skinned monstrosity is set to be the X-Men’s most powerful movie villain to date, with telepathy, teleportation, molecular manipulation, energy manipulation and technopathy potentially being part of a power arsenal that also includes the aforementioned telekinesis.

As a result, he’s going to be one hell of a hard act to follow but, despite the suggestive name of the movie’s titular character, the world isn’t actually going to end and there are set to be more X-Men movies after X-Men: Apocalypse is released (with another solo Wolverine movie penned in for the year after it). Therefore, more villains will be needed, and we think there are some who are up to the task of following the big blue rogue.
