Advice?

just take thing from your life and put those people in your storys

The things that make us up are our experiences and in general most characters personalities arent revealed till deep in the book so go from life and if your really scrapped for characters try taking traits from movie characters and tweak them a bit

Try taking different personalities from different people 당신 know. Make sure the character is realistic- they must have some good points and some flaw, some skills and some things they aren't so good at, some sort of motive behind their actions, and something that makes them relate able. I'm afraid I'm not an expert, so sorry if this isn't much help!

A lot of people say "complicated" people are better for characters, but I think think it's better to have just one MAIN thing about them- pick one thing (funny, sexy, emo), and then think about other things 당신 could add on (funny & angry, sexy & depressed, smart & emo). Then, just think about how they might react to the other characters in the book. There. Hope that helped :).

I don't know if I can help. I have a problem similar to yours, only it's with female personalities. I'm great with male characters.
What I do when I need a girl character is to try and mix myself into her, sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.
Everyone has different emotions and such, shyness, excitement, anger, a light side and a dark side. What I do is mix those qualities together in different variations to create different personalities.
I also use 아니메 characters as a sort of reference to creating my own character.

dont worry bout it , the gene factor will unravel themselves as 당신 create and build your story, for they are still awaiting birth. give it time, dress them as girls, allow them to be girls. for if theyy change so be it, tomboys, started upon a similiar path as girls can do anything a boy can do, except they tend to focus more. why do we all want to wear pants. as for both genders, when is ther a swap clothes day;-] great 질문 though. many women of time had to be dressed as a boy , to prove they were equal. shakes[ere actors of women roles were men, as women were thought were not able to act. time proved that theory wrong. happy creating;-]

well what I do is, think of what the persons personality will be like. If its someone who is mean, think of a movie, book, 당신 in real like, ect. that involved someone mean. what did they say, look like, ect. did all of the mean people have something in common (And DONT say they were all mean lmao) maybe something they said, did they, for example, did they sigh heavily, say a catch phrase alot? then what I do is I go on Google.com and go and search, What _______ (<- add either boy 또는 girl) name means _________ (<- whatever the person's personality is) and 당신 usually get a result.

Male is usually the same way... so yeah...

Characters are like people. We weren't made in a day. Just strt your story think of physical features and see where it takes you. As the story developed in depth so do your characters. If 당신 decide to change something than change it. As for the male delema find a guy on 팬팝 또는 somewhere else who would be willing to read it and get their opinion on how realistic the male character is (don't pick a jackass) add some strengts some flaws. Dont make it a mary-sue though (look in 인기 content and links- there's Mary sue 기사 and a Mary sue test) the closer the characters are to real people the 더 많이 people like them. Hope his helps
