I was first introduced to the 음악 of West Side Story while attending 일 camp back in the summer of 1962, when I was entering the sixth grade. Another girl in the group that I was with had just received a copy of the LP soundtrack of the original Broadway musical stage production of West Side Story for her birthday and brought it in to play for us. West Side Story mania was in the air that summer, as the kids at camp went around 노래 all the songs in camp, on the buses to and from camp, and even walked around snapping their fingers in the hallways. I fell in 사랑 with the 음악 to WSS immediately.

Although West Side Story's popularity was at its height and it was still new and fresh through most of the 1960's, I did not get to see the movie West Side Story until around Christmastime of 1968, as a high school senior, at a now-defunct movie theatre roughly an 시간 north of the city that I reside in. I fell in 사랑 with it immediately. Since I was still a high school teenager when I first saw it, I was able to identify with the kids in the film being kids, but when I got older, although I still 사랑 this great classic, I looked at it differently. I now appreciate WSS even 더 많이 for its artistic beauty, the music, the very story behind it, and how much proof West Side Story is of how various emotions can be beautifully epressed in the form of dance.

Afew years later, I was in an evening jewelry-making course, when somebody who'd brought in a small black and white TV because West Side Story was on that night to watch it, managed to encourage the other class members to watch it also, which we all did. That summer, when I went on a six-week trip, someone in the group I was with had brought along a cassette tape of the soundtrack to the film version of West Side Story, which was played almost every evening, during free hours. My 사랑 for West Side Story, which I'd put on the back burner for afew years, had been re-ignited.

I longed for WSS to come back, and it came back on TV a couple of months later, just before Thanksgiving. Need I add that I've been in 사랑 with this great, golden oldie-but-goody keeper of a movie classic since?

Hi guys, I would like to write my favourite songs from West Side Story, ready?

1. America

I 사랑 how the movie interpreted this song, where Anita and the girls sing about why they 사랑 the US and the boys interjected their opinions about the US before it ended in a dance.

2. Tonight

It's been covered 의해 many artist and Il Divo is one of them, I prefer both movie and Il Divo's rendition, the latter version has 더 많이 upbeat.

3. I Feel Pretty

This song is really interesting, because it is like Maria's 프렌즈 voice out their opinions about her. Interesting fact, Santino Fontana used this song for his audition in Disney's 겨울왕국 with some minor changes in the lyrics though!

4. Somewhere

Another song that was covered 의해 Il Divo and Jackie Evancho with Babra Streisand, I prefer the latter as well as the movie version for some reason.

I Want to be in America!

So, only 4 songs make it through the cut, which are your favourites?

It's been coming to 6 years since I watched the movie with the late Natalie Wood and Rita Moreno, I grew a liking on the songs and the movie.

The Songs

As many West Side Story 팬 like myself, I knew many of the songs. But the most beautiful song among them that I 사랑 is 'Tonight', followed 의해 'Somewhere'. The former would definitely be an amazing wedding song while the latter is telling us to follow your dreams, even though 당신 are down and upset.
Another song that I like is America, because Anita manage to stand up to her belief on her opinion on America, I also like how the boys countered...
