I, personally, don't think the 360's name has any significance towards the console. Mainly because almost every three-dimensional game has a 360 camera angle. And 3D games have been around for years. In short, I think Microsoft just added the "360" fraction of the Xbox's actual name just because they either couldn't think of a better name, 또는 they just stayed away from cool names and stuck with weird numbers. Hey, Xbox 2 would've worked just fine.

I'm not sure Xbox 2 would work, it would look like they're a step behind the PS3
My guess is that they wanted to sound like they were as advanced as 플레이스테이션 3, but couldn't call the system XBox 3 because it isn't the third console in the series. So 360 *implies* that it's as good (even better) than 플레이스테이션 3, but without actually lying about which number they're on.
The reason why they called it the 360 is beyond my knowledge, but in my personal thought, it's probably named that because Microsoft has a long line of geek fanboys, and everyone knows geeks 사랑 big, scientific numbers. :D
