In all of my 200 years, I had never found another like her. She was just...different. She got me. She didn't care. She loved me and that was that. I would find her, and she would slip through my finges. Whether 의해 accedent, illness, she was always taken. Always too soon.

Everytime she died, ten years later she would show up. Her name alway different, but everything else was the same. As I waited in like for security with my luggage 의해 my side I went through my 가장 좋아하는 and last time with her.

Chicago, IL, August 16, 1957. The "Juke box era". It was at a new 공식 만찬, 저녁 식사 in town, the one all the teenagers hung out at. Listening to Don't Be Cruel 또는 Wake Up Little Suzie. Today, Little Bitty Pretty One was filling the room.

I had taken off my suit 재킷, 자 켓 and traded it for a leather one, my black bowtie hung lose on my neck though my 셔츠 stayed tucked into my black slacks. I took my hands out of my pockets and shoved my way though a flood of teenagers.

I could make out a dark blue dress with white dots scattered thoughout it and a white pair of heels before it dissapeared behind a sweater vest. I made it through the last row that surrounded two in the middle. It was Becca. Her long, wavy brown hair swung around her face as a blond boy twirled her around. Her smile was huge and I knew she was having fun 의해 the sparkle in her eye. But one wrong move, the toe of her heel clipped his shoe and she was falling.

Without even thinking I caught her in my arms. Her breathing was heavy and labored as she turned to face me. "I'm so sorry." She blushed.

I smiled at the fimilar seen. "Don't worry about it." I shook my head.

"Beth!" The boy that had ben dancing with her ran over. "Hey, 당신 okay?"

"Yes. I'm fine. Thank 당신 for dancing with me, Mike." She smiled.

"Anytime." He smiled and nodded to me before walking off.

So her name was Beth.

"I'm Beth." She stuck out her hand and I shook it.

"Edward." I told her. Her dress had a white band around the waist and a 꽃 at the top.

"Well, Edward, 당신 know 당신 are supposed to wear a suit 재킷, 자 켓 with those pants and that shirt....right?" She smirked.

"I did have one on actually. It's not really my style."

"Oh?" Asked and started to walking over to the bar, sitting on a red sparkling stool. I took a 좌석 beside her. "And what is your style? Can I have a 초콜릿 milkshake? Extra whipcream please." She smiled at the waitress and turned back for me. Waiting for my answer.

"Come with me." I told her and pulled her along with me.

"But my shake."

"Don't worry." I chuckled. "We aren't going to leave." I pulled her out the door into the late summer air and showed her to my car. "My style." I pointed out. (AN: CAR PICTURE BELOW)

"Oh wow." She gasped and ran her fingers along the red paint. "This is beautiful."

"Yeah." I nodded. "Want to sit in it?" She nodded and I opened the door for her and she slid into the drivers seat. "Wait here." I told her and ran in into the dinner. I grabbed her shake off the counter and took it to the waitress. "Could 당신 put this into something she can take with her?"

"Of course." She nodded and took the shake, comming back with paper cup. "Here 당신 go." She handed it to me while I pushed a quarter of the counter.

"Thank you." I smiled and made my way back to Bec- Beth. This was going to take a couple hours to get used to.

I walked back out to Beth and handed her the shake. "So 당신 could take it with you." I climbed into the drivers 좌석 and started the car.

"Where are we going?" She asked, taking a sip.

"You'll see."

"Do I know this place?" She asked again.

"Nope." I smirked.

She sighed and fiddeled with the radio until she stopped on a song and smiled. "I 사랑 this song."

"Love Me Tender." I nodded. "It's a good song."

"A good song?" She turned to look at me. "It's a great song!"

"I suppose 당신 would think that." I smirked.

"And what is that supposed to mean?"

"He's Elvis. All the girls like him because they think he is 'beautiful'."

"I don't." She curled her nose. "His face is too long, his lips are too full. I think that thing he does with his mouth is just frightening. but I like his songs."

I couldn't help but laugh.

"Well, it's true." She shrugged and drank on her shake somemore.

I pulled onto a old gravel road that wound through the trees and came out on a bluff. "Here we are." I put the car in park, leaving it running, and got out to open her door.

"Where are we?"

"My own secret spot. I come here when I just want to get away." I leaned up against the front of the car and she leaned beside me.

"It's beautiful." She whispered, looking up at the stars that dotted the black sky.


I 로스트 her 6 months after that. And strangly...I have yet to find her. Yet.
