I knew it was too early to get up, yet I couldn’t just lie there any more. If I didn’t do something, I may just go mad. My beautiful, immortal vampire boyfriend was out hunting with his brothers and wouldn’t be 집 until later today. His sister Alice was supposed to stay with me, but thanks to her 사랑 of dressing me up like a 바비 인형 doll and my clever planning, she stayed at her place to arrange a whole new wardrobe for me and I got to spend the night without being babysat. I rolled over and looked at my alarm clock. 5:45 am. I heard Charlie banging around downstairs and thought I caught the scent of burnt 토스트 and bacon, so instead of just lying there on my bed, waiting for 6:30 to arrive, I decided to get up, and cook my dad a proper breakfast. I tip toed down the stairs as quietly as I could, so I wouldn’t startle him. Half way down the stairs I tripped and landed flat on my face.
“Bella!” Charlie called surprised and worried at the same time. He was suddenly at my side helping up to my feet. “Are 당신 okay? What are 당신 doing up so early?” my eyes adjusted to the dull light enough for me to make out the look of his worried expression on his face. “I couldn’t go back to sleep, so I thought I’d 가입하기 당신 for breakfast.” I said groggily. I looked around the dimly lit room and saw the 빵 굽는 사람, 토스터 had popped and the 베이컨 already out of the pan, but strangely both the 토스트 and the 베이컨 were in a napkin on the bench 다음 to a flask of what I could only presume was coffee. “Well, that’s nice of ya Bells, but I have to kinda…uh…eat and run today.” He said awkwardly, helping me sit down in a 좌석 at the table. “There was an accident just outside of Port Angeles last night and I have to go check it out. Will 당신 be okay eating 의해 yourself?” he looked at me as if he thought I might be sleep walking, and he was just talking to himself. “Yeah, that’s fine dad.” I said making my voice sound as energetic as I could, proving to him that I was actually awake. “I don’t mind eating alone. Never have. Probably never will. I’m like my dad in that way.” I grinned at him teasingly. He grinned his eye wrinkling smile and headed towards the door. “Have a good 일 at school Bells.” He said as he paused at the door to grab his Sheriffs 재킷, 자 켓 of the 코트 rack. “Is Edward back yet?” he asked trying to make it sound light and effortless. My father has been trying to be nice to Edward, whether Edward is actually present 또는 not. Trying being the operative word. Sometimes he’s been known tom make the occasional slip, whenever around my former best friend and his 프렌즈 and father, who held a grudge with my Edward and the rest of his family. The Quileute’s made a pact with the Cullen’s around 75 years ago, agreeing that if the Cullen’s stayed of their land, they Quileute’s will not tell the world the Cullen’s secret. The Quileute’s themselves having their own secrets, which I found out roughly 7 months ago. Who knew that some legends can actually be true? I didn’t. for example, a 년 이전 when I walked down First Beach, with my best friend, Jacob Black, and he told me the story of his tribe, and how they’re descendants of wolves, and that they actually turn into wolves, how was I supposed to know that it was true? I looked up at Charlie who was waiting for my answer to his question. “Oh, um, no he comes back this afternoon.” I said lamely. Charlie flashed me his wrinkly eye grin again, this time I scowled at it, as he walked from the room, I caught a glimpse of the clock, 6:15, well that was a good way to waste time I thought in satisfaction. I headed up the stairs to grab my clothes and toiletries to go have my 샤워 and get ready for school.

As I pulled into the Forks High School car park, I saw my best human friend, Angela, standing 의해 the 후드 of her car, looking as though she was crying. I stopped the car and practically through myself out of the car, straight into her, and hugged her fiercely. She hugged me back just as fiercely, and started crying harder. We stood like that for a while, just hugging each other while she cried. The first 벨 rang, but we were both in the same class first, so we decided to go and clean her up. “Are 당신 okay, Ange?” I asked her as we walked to bathroom, trying to hide my concern as much as what was possible, however failing miserably after the first word came out of my mouth. She took a while to answer. She went to the basin and washed her face, then grabbed a paper towel and started to dry it. When she finally looked back at me, her eyes were red and puffy as if she had been crying all weekend. “N-n-no, not-not really…” she stammered, trying to compose herself. I was really worried now. Angela was the last person I would expect to ever break down in the school parking lot, 또는 any where else for that matter. “Angie, what happened?” I asked as kindly and soothingly as I could manage. She looked at me, fresh tears starting to drip down her face as she said, “Ben and I broke up.” She said, not even trying to compose herself now, she was sobbing as hard as possible, and it looked like she was having a hard time breathing. “I saw him, making out with….with….” she said through her sobbing, “He was making out with Lauren!” she spat furiously through her tears. I stared at her flabbergasted, I had never seen her in any other emotion than happy 또는 concerned, so this was a shock for me. I grabbed her in a hug again when the door opened behind me. I turned and saw Alice, standing there awkwardly 의해 the door, “Is everything okay?” she asked looking at me, flickering a concerned glance at Angela then back to me. “Mr. Molina, wanted to know where 당신 are, and someone saw 당신 come in here.” Angela grabbed another paper towel and blew her nose. “Yeah, we’re fine thanks Alice.” I said looking at her but still glancing back at Angela. I looked at Alice dead on now. “We’ll be there in a minute.” She was looking at me meaningfully, when she answered “Okay, but every class is in the Gym. Their was an emergency Assembly, but it hadn’t started when I left.” She said a little wrinkle appearing between her eye brows. I was about to 질문 her when Angela was suddenly at my side. “Lets go then.” She suggested her voice much steadier now. Alice held the door open for us, as we walked out. “Alice, what’s wrong?” I whispered as quietly as I could. Angela was mumbling to herself in front of us. Alice stared at me for a moment before she said “I’m not sure if I can tell you…” she admitted sadly. The tone of her voice caught my attention. “Tell me what? Alice?” I asked her really starting to worry now. “Is Edward okay? Did something happen?” my voice was starting to get a hysterical edge to it. Alice put her hand on my shoulder and shook her head reassuringly. “No he’s fine, it’s just that…well…” she dragged to a stop and didn’t continue. “What?!” I asked urgently, something must have happened.
“I saw something this morning,” she said almost silently, I leaned in closer to hear her better.
“I saw Carlisle, Esme, Rosalie, Emmett, Edward, Jasper and myself…leaving Forks.” She finished looking at me sadly. I gaped at her in horror, not again, this had only just happened, it can’t happen again. “But, I see us coming back only after a couple of months.” She said trying to reassure me. “It’s nothing, seriously, Bella, nothing. We just have to check out a couple of murders around Port Angeles and a similar murder in Alaska. We’re staying with Tanya, and we’ll be back quickly.” I listened, but it didn’t sink in. I looked at her with angry tears in my eyes; I tried to compose my voice before I started screaming. “Does…Edward know about this?” I said trying to sound calm, but failing again. Alice’s eyes widened marginally, and nodded. I nodded once, and then sped up my pace to match Angela’s, leaving Alice walking at her slow human pace, ten yards behind me. We headed into the Gym, and took our seats at the back of the hall, Mr. Greene, the principal, was standing at the front of the group with another man, who looked Native American. “This is Mr. Blair.” He was saying to the group. “He’s the principal at the La Push high school, which I am sad to say, caught on 불, 화재 in the late hours of the morning today.” He said in a morose tone. I mentally noted the door open behind me and saw Alice and surprisingly Edward walk through the door, and take a 좌석 in the seats 다음 to Mike Newton at the other end of the row. Edward threw a look at me, and I could see the sadness in his eyes. I studiously ignored him, and tried to pay attention to what Mr. Greene was saying. “And because of the lack of High School in this area, we will be hosting the children of the La Push high school here for the 다음 few months.” He said, finally catching my attention. “There will be students added into your classes, and some classes will be joined together to allow room for them.” He was having fun announcing this; it was clear on his face. Finally doing something important, in which we actually cared; everyone was looking around the room now, trying to spot the new kids. I was even looking, searching for Jacob and his friends, Quil and Embry. While doing my searching I caught sight of the looks on Alice and Edwards faces, both shocked and angry. “Let’s bring them in shall we?” Mr. Greene shouted over the babble of voices that now filled the hall. Mr. Blair went to the door and told the kids to come in. They filed in one 의해 one, all looking curious yet, frightened somehow, I supposed it had something to do with a new school half way through the year. I saw Jacob and his 프렌즈 coming up the back of the line. Jacob saw me and started to smile at me, when he caught himself, and put on his version of Sam’s serene mask. Quil turned to see what he was avoiding looking at and he saw me sitting in the back looking at me him. He smiled and waved as did Embry. Jacob gave them a basilisk glare, and then gave me one as I returned the smile and wave. Edward was still staring at me, I could feel it, except this time I could feel his anger towards what the 늑대인간 doing. Fraternizing with werewolves, what was I thinking? I finally turned to him, and saw him looking at me with pleading in his eyes, and he mouthed “I’m Sorry.” I glared at him before I turned my head to see Mr. Greene coming directly towards me. “Ms. Swan, would 당신 be able to be a tour guide of the campus to our guests?” he said, in a courteous tone, which I knew he used in code for “if-you-don’t-you’ll-get-detention-for-talking-during-assembly”. I sighed and nodded. He beamed and said “Excellent.” He turned and saw Mike listening to his iPod went up to him and asked the same thing. Mike agreed as soon as he knew I was doing it too.
I sighed again, and grabbed my bag and got to my feet, to 가입하기 the eagerly awaiting Mike, to do our first job as tour guides. On our way to the front of the hall, I tripped over Mike’s foot and fell, my face finding the edge of Tyler Crowley’s chair on the way down. My head made a resounding crunch as it made contact with the chair, and I felt a warm, wetness dripping down my forehead. Mike rushed to my side, as did Mr. Greene and Mr. Blair, I heard a chair scrape across the floor and I knew that would be Alice and Edward leaving, although they were close enough to be my family, human blood is not good for a vampire. All of a sudden Edwards’s voice was above me. “Bella?!” 당신 could hear the panic in his voice “Bella, honey, can 당신 hear me?” I felt several hands on my forehead, one stood out from the rest, instead of the normal human temperature; this one was ice cold, and hard. I heard something close to a growl and someone swear there were several voices then as an argument broke out.
Everything went black then.
