Nightfall Chapter 24: An Unlikely Alliance (Jake's POV)

I felt my body trembling with fury and just as I was about to phase Edward called out to me from the stairs of the garage.


“Jacob I would appreciate it if 당신 would find another course of action in order to pursue your vendetta against my brother.” I was momentarily distracted as I turned towards him in irritation.


“You know, 당신 should really try speaking in plain old English sometime Edward.” He chuckled as he took a step towards me. Bella’ s head popped into the doorway her brow furrowed in worry, just the same as it always was during confrontations between me and Edward when she was human.


“Edward,” she warned. He waved her off.


“It’s alright love, nothing is going to happen go back into the house, Jacob and I have something to discuss.” Bella rolled her eyes and shut the door behind her muttering about immature boys. I was losing patience as I turned towards him.


“Look don’t even try to talk me out of this. Emmett is going to pay, he had no right to take my bike out without permission and then he was going to let me think that my kids did it…” Edward held a hand up interrupting me.


“Relax Jacob. I agree with you, I know he is my brother but he can’t just do whatever he wants all of the time. Those are my grandkids that he set up. I just don’t think that attacking his jeep is the best plan.” I was really starting to lose it and my hands trembled.


“Why not?” Edward smirked at me and I was ready to wipe the face off of his head.


He read my thoughts as always, “You are welcome to try Jacob, but I don’t think Renesmee would appreciate it if 당신 attacked her father.”


“CUT IT OUT 당신 TWO!” Pain ripped through my body as my imprint’s voice pierced through the house. I knew that I wouldn’t be able to touch him.


He grinned in satisfaction as I growled, “Spit it out leech.”


That only led him to grin wider as he chuckled, “That is kind of hypocritical isn’t it… now that 당신 are one of us.” I growled and he rolled his eyes. “Are 당신 always going to be so volatile?”


“DADDY KNOCK IT OFF!” Renesmee threatened from the door, her sweet face contorted in anger. Edward smiled apologetically at his daughter and then turned back to me as Nessie stalked off- probably to go and complain to her mother.


“So why is this a bad idea?” I demanded.


“Well first of all the Vanquish is much too close to the Jeep and it would be a shame for 당신 to destroy it because then I might actually have to kill you- ” I grunted at that but silently agreed that destroying that car would be a sin.


“Second of all, Emmett’s first 사랑 doesn’t lie with cars- plus since it’s Rose’s passion she could fix it immediately. What is the one thing that Emmett loves just as much as Rosalie?” My eyes lit up as the realization dawned on me.


“His video games…” Edward nodded and we both took off to the living room. Everyone was still in the process of cleaning except for Seth, Amore, Leah and Nahuel who had taken the kids out back to play and work off their energy. Edward handed me Emmett’s Wii and I punched it so hard that it crumbled in my hands. Edward and I both snickered as Bella and Nessie shook their heads in annoyance. Alice’s eyes glazed over and then she looked at us with a smirk.


“You had better hurry up, Emmett and Rose will be back in approximately ten minutes. And just so 당신 know this is not going to end well.” Esme glared at us from the floor where she was scooping up pieces of glass which she was dumping into a garbage bag that Carlisle was holding open for her.


“Edward that wasn’t nice,” she chided and his eyes flew open.


“I didn’t do it, it was Jacob.”


Esme narrowed her eyes at her son, “Yes but I heard 당신 planting the seed in his head. Edward 당신 are almost 100 years old 당신 should know better than to be such a bad influence on your son in law. He looks up to you.” We both looked at her indignantly.


“It’s not my fault,” Edward complained.


“I do not look up to him!” I objected.


“5 minutes.” Alice chimed in her musical voice, Jasper grinned and Carlisle shook his head. Edward and I looked back at each other and shrugged as we went for Emmett’s play station and games. Edward elbow dropped the play station and I snapped his games in half. We neatly piled it all back into the drawer that held his gaming supplies, leaving the remotes out on the coffee 표, 테이블 where he always put them, and then we sat down on the 침상, 소파 다음 to Bella and Nessie waiting for the show to start. I looked around quickly as I remembered that Sam was still here somewhere.


"Hey Carlisle, where is Sam? Is he doing ok?" Carlisle smiled in awe.


"I will never get over how fast 늑대 heal. He is fine he was just mildly limping when Paul came to pick him up." That was a relief, I smirked at he thought of Paul coming here. My brother in law to be wasn't the most at ease around the 뱀파이어 yet, funny enough his brother in law would be one. I shuddered at the thought of actually being related to him.


A couple of 분 later Emmett and Blondie walked into the room, Emmett was carrying a 60 inch LG LCD TV in a box and “she devil” had her arms full of auto parts store bags. Emmett set the box down and clapped his hands together like a little kid on 크리스마스 morning.


“So its bigger than our last one,” he gushed. He looked over his shoulder cautiously before opening the box. “So where are the little monst-” Rose smacked the back of his head and he grunted. “Er, where are the kids?”


Nessie had been staring me down angrily as I defaced her uncle’s property but now she shot me a smile of camaraderie as she glared at her uncle. “They are playing outside Uncle Emmett.


“Perfect,” he smiled as he set up the new TV. Esme watched nervously, probably wondering how much 더 많이 of her property was about to be destroyed in what would most likely end up as an all out brawl in her living room. Each time Emmett looked over towards me and Edward we smiled at him widely.


He finally raised an eyebrow at us, “So what is up with 당신 two weirdos? It can’t be a lack of sex; all of Forks has heard 당신 and your wives going at it.” We both growled at him and he turned back to his work hooting with laugher. The air was filled with calming vibes, I scowled at Jasper who shook his head at me. Due to his vampiric speed, Emmett had the TV set up within minutes. He settled into his 가장 좋아하는 chair and picked up the remote to turn on his 플레이스테이션 and nothing happened. His brow furrowed in confusion.


“That’s weird…” he murmured as he tried again. With a sigh he got up and headed to the cabinet. “Rose have 당신 been messing with my stuff again?”


She rolled her eyes at him from where she sat staring at one of the computers without blinking. “Yes Emmett because I have nothing better to do than 옮기기 your stuff around.” As he opened the cabinet everyone froze and waited for his response.


“What the F.UCK?!” He screamed as he picked up his gaming systems, the pieces fell from his fingers to the ground. He spun around and faced us all. “Who did this?” He demanded, so loudly that everyone in the backyard came running in to the room. I stood up and strolled over to him, Carlisle grabbed my arm but I wriggled free. I stood so that I was inches from his face.


“Hmm, what a shame…it was like that when I found it.” Emmett’s eyes flashed as he realized what had happened. He threw the remaining pieces to the ground and stepped forward. I moved closer until our chests were touching, mine was heaving with anger.


“If 당신 ever pin anything on my kids again it will be 더 많이 than a Wii that 당신 lose.” I snarled as Emmett growled. Edward, Seth and Leah were at my side in seconds. Amidst all of the growls Nessie wedged her way in between us placing one tiny hand on her uncle’s chest and one on mine. The shaking in my body slowed, but was still there.

Edward turned to me, “Jake knock it off Nessie is right here.”


“ENOUGH!” Nessie yelled firmly at both of us. “You are both complete morons and 당신 are even now so sit down and shut up.”


“Well spoken, I taught 당신 well.” Blondie commented from where she had suddenly appeared beside Emmett, she was trying to pull him away but he continued to glare at me. The room was filled with barking again as Nessie was suddenly surrounded 의해 a 원, 동그라미 of snarling 늑대 cubs who were ferociously trying to protect their mother from what they perceived to be imminent danger.


Esme groaned, “Not again, we just got this place cleaned up.”


“Emmett, Jake SIT.” Carlisle’s voice rang out firmly. We conceded and Blondie was finally able to pull a sulking Emmett away. Now that the danger was over the kids were distracted 의해 the pieces from the broken video games and they began nosing them across the floor almost like they were playing hockey. Esme’s tawny eyes widened as she noticed gashes being carved into her floor.


“Stop the kids so they don’t get cut!” she shrieked. We obviously didn’t want to see what would happen if one of the kids began bleeding. Would the vampire in them be stronger than the wolf? Alice’s eyes glazed over again.


“OH!” Her face looked panicked and terror flashed throguh Edward's eyes, I didn’t even need to know what the vision was I could tell from their reactions alone. Edward looked at me and nodded and we hurried to grab the kids. Emmett leapt up and grabbed the three closest to him and Edward and I grabbed the remaining two while Nessie and Bella picked up all of the broken pieces. Blondie stalked over to us growling.


“You two need to grow up they could have gotten seriously hurt because of your idiocy.” I looked up at Nessie and Bella sheepishly and they both glowered at me with identical looks of anger so fierce that I had to look away.


“Sorry,” Emmett and I both mumbled. He held his hand out probably not so much because he wanted to make up, but Blondie was staring him down even 더 많이 fiercely than the looks I was getting from my wife and mother in law.


“I'm sorry Jake, I should have asked first. We- uh, bought some stuff to fix your bike. Rose is going to take care of it.” Emmett mumbled.


Nessie stepped up beside me, “and Jake is sorry too. RIGHT JAKE?"


I sighed, "Yea."


She smiled tightly, "Uncle Emmett, Jake is going to buy 당신 whatever video game system 당신 want to make up for what he did.”


Bella snorted, “actually that will be paid for 의해 Edward this was all his idea.”


Emmett growled at his brother and Edward growled right back, setting his jaw firmly. “You know 당신 deserved it, Em.” The anger faded from Emmett’s eyes as he roared with laughter he pulled his 가장 좋아하는 brother into a hug.


“You are evil Eddie 당신 almost got away scot free.” Edward shoved him away.


“Don’t call me that.” Esme was looking down at her floor sadly and Nessie wrapped her tiny arms around her waist.


“I’m sorry Gram, me and Jake will replace it.” She absently kissed her granddaughter’s forehead.


“Well, I did have some left over wood from my latest project.” Nessie’s eyes lit up she loved to study blue prints with her grandmother and to hear all about what she was working on.


“What is it Gram?” Esme smiled kindly at Nessie and I.


“Well, this isn’t really how I pictured this but… we have built 당신 a house for your wedding present from all of us. We were going to wait a bit until 당신 got settled a little 더 많이 with the 아기 but…”


“Sorry, but it’s kinda’ crowded in here Ness.” Alice chirped from the couch. Nessie’s whole face was lit up in excitement and she was just about bouncing up and down.


“When do we get to see it?”


Alice grinned and with one leap she bounded across the room and was jumping around like an idiot with my wife.


“I just 사랑 how much 더 많이 enthusiastic 당신 are than your mother,” she turned to her right. “Sorry Bella, no offense.” Bella smiled from under Edward’s arm.


“None taken.” Nessie grabbed her tiny aunt’s shoulders and shook them.


“FOCUS aunt Alice, when can I see it?”


“Well there’s no time like the present, carpe diem- right?” Alice crooned as she grabbed Nessie hand and they flew out of the window that I had broken when I leapt into the house to save Sam. Shaking my head I took off after them.


“Good luck with that Jacob, “Edward grinned after me.
