My thoughts swirled.Why did it have to be now?Why did it have to be him?I imagined him,pale,sunken,and frail on a hospital bed.I shuddered."What happened?"I asked.She grew rigged."Your father and I were going to visit him yesterday.His car was still there,but he wouldn't answer the door."She had to pause for a moment as we got into her Mercedes Guardian.I knew something was wrong,so we broke in."
I could picture the whole thing in my head.Mom getting worried,then frantic.I snapped out of my thoughts as Dad,who had been silent until now,took over."We found him passed out on the floor in the kitchen."
I began to get sick in my stomach.Not Charlie!
"We took him 집 but,"he paused."the outlook doesn't look good."His lips were pressed into a thin line.
Oh,yeah.I was definitely sick!Jake rubbed my shoulder as we started home."It'll be okay,"he whispered."Charlie's a tough man.He'll pull through."I leaned my head down onto his shoulder."I hope you're right."We were silent for the rest of the ride home.
There was no greeting as we pulled up at home.The 구름, 클라우드 of despair settled over the place.Even Emmet remained silent,seated on the couch,blindly flipping through the channels of the TV.
"I want to see him,"I said,as soon as I found Carlisle.He led me to the room that I always seemed to wind up in.Jacob followed me inside."I'll leave 당신 two alone,"Carlisle said.
He shut the door,leaving us alone with Charlie's unconscious body.He looked horrible.It was just as I imagined.His cheeks were sunken and yellow,his chest was barely moving,and the monitor wasn't beeping a lot."Oh,Charlie!"I cried.I threw myself into Jake's chest,sobbing."Shh,"he tried to comfort me."It's alright."
Despair overcame me.I cried words out through my tears."But d-don't 당신 see?I-it's n-not!He-he's s-so,"I broke out crying again.He tightened his embrace and kissed my forehead."I'm sorry."
That night,I felt the nudge.I was half-asleep on Jake's bare chest as he watched TV.I was about to doze off when a little nudge bumped my belly.My eyes fluttered open."Did 당신 do that?"
"Do what?"
It happened again.This time,a little harder.My eyes widened."Nessie,what's wrong?"He leaned up.I placed his hand on my stomach as I felt another one.His eyes widened.
"Oh My GOSH!"
"Yeah."
