John earned a coveted Manchester Theatre Award nomination for Best Actor in a Visiting Production for his performance as The Phantom in The Phantom of the Opera 25th Anniversary Tour. Winners of The Manchester Theatre Awards were announced on March 26th. Sadly, John didn\'t win the award but the excellent Ray Fearon did for his performance in the RSC\'s Julius Caesar. Congratulations Ray! http://manchestertheatreawards.com/news/24
Talking of Phantom, John was called on unexpectedly to stand in for an unwell Earl Carpenter for the first night of the Phantom Tour in Liverpool on 26th February. After getting the call at midday, John jumped on a train and a few hours later, having not performed the role for five months and with very little rehearsal, was onstage at the Liverpool Empire Theatre!
John was in New York in January where he appeared in a special gala
performance of The Phantom of the Opera to celebrate the show\'s 25th year on Broadway. For more detail on the historic occasion follow the link! - Playbill.com
