It was 8 and Lisa was elated while waiting for her 프렌즈 to burst through the door at any 분 so they could go and celebrate. Her cell phone rang and she picked it up. “Hello?” “Hey hun it’s Julie.” “Jules! Happy birthday!” Lisa was confused on why she was calling and not in front of her right now. “Thanks! How’s it going?” “Uh fine. Why? Uh oh. What’s the bad news?” Lisa new that tone. “Wellllll…our flight might have been canceled.” “Aw what? Why?” Lisa stood and started to pace. “I guess there is some sort of storm going on idontreallyknow.” Lisa’s friend was clearly bummed as she mumbled her words. “Oh Jules. It’s ok! Really! I’m just glad 당신 guys are 안전한, 안전 and not flying through a hurricane.” She stopped and sighed. “Yeah I guess. Well I’m going to go and try to find another flight and I’ll be there no later than Monday. Dom and Guy said they 사랑 당신 and we‘ll see 당신 soon!” The two women said their goodbyes and hung up.
Lisa sat down again and thought. She was bummed but she still had the whole night, she was ready, so why not just go herself. She knew a little bar close 의해 and figured it wouldn’t hurt to just go and have a couple of drinks before going to bed. She grabbed her car keys and headed out the door.

The old bar sign read “Chuck’s Bar” except the ‘u’ and ‘a’ light had blown so it read “Chck’s Br”. Lisa remembered coming here the first time she moved out to LA. It was a quiet little bar where only the regulars came. There wasn’t a lot of fancy shmancy drinks, just 맥주 and straight up 버번, 부르봉 왕가 또는 whiskey and if you‘re nice in your tipping they have a martini. Exiting her car, Lisa pressed the lock button on her keys and slung her 지갑 over her shoulder while continuing to the door.
The poorly lit bar was filled with cigarette smoke masked with the aroma of husbands who came here for the retreat from their wives. A soft rock melody was playing on stage from a guy with an acoustic 기타 and his 고수, 드러 머 pal. It was nice, relaxing, perfect for the mood.
Lisa sat down on a 발판, 자 and smiled at the young woman who was making her way over to her. The girl was wearing skinny jeans with a huge whole in the 나귀, 엉덩이 and near the crotch, which was supposed to be attractive, black boots that looked similar to the ‘working girls’ 당신 see outside right about now, and to 상단, 맨 위로 it off a super low cut plaid 셔츠 that was 더 많이 than slightly see through. Lisa figured the girl was about 20 또는 21 and figured her style was a little too 30 y/o hot mess. “What can I getcha?” The girl asked while pursing her rosy 담홍색, 핑크 lips and smacking her gum. “I’ll have a Heineken. No glass, please.” Lisa swiveled her 발판, 자 around so she could watch the small ensemble play.
“I never thought 당신 to be a 맥주 type.” An all too familiar voice said as the all too familiar presence took a 좌석 다음 to her. Lisa closed her eyes and silently wished it wasn’t who she thought it was. “You can’t just wish me out of your life, Lisa.” Hugh said taking a swig of his beer. “What. Are you. Doing here?” Her teeth were clenched along with her fists. “Eh this is what I do every Saturday…and Sundays.” He watched as the tender set Lisa’s 맥주 down in front of her. She just stared at it and then grabbed the long neck bottle and threw the skunky liquid down in one gulp. “Wow. Are 당신 alright? 당신 really threw that-Hey! Where are 당신 going?!” He watched confusedly as Lisa got up grabbed another 맥주 and walked off towards the bathroom. Halfway there she turned around and stopped him in his tracks. “I don’t need this right now. Just leave before we both regret things.Please” And she disappeared into the ladies bathroom.
He sighed and grunted in displeasure before heaving through the door. There she was in a stall, sitting on 상단, 맨 위로 of one of the toilets, sipping her beer. “Lisa-” “Don’t.” “Just let me finish.” She shook her head and swallowed. “No. I don’t need this. I’m here to relax and I do not need 당신 to come and play the sorry game with me.” She was now crying. Enraged that he made her cry again she got up, pushed him out of her way and went over to one of the sinks and started washing her face. “Lisa…” His voice was so gentle. “I-…I just wanted to say that 당신 look beautiful.’ And with that he walked away.
Lisa started laughing coldly and cursed herself for letting him do this to her again. He always was able to hurt her like none other and then turn around and make her stomach flutter like none other had. She hated him and loved him all at the same time and didn’t think it was fair.
She washed her face and applied some 더 많이 lip gloss before mussing her hair up. She was here to have a relaxing time and wasn’t going to let him get in her way. She basically just said fuck it and figured that nothing horribly disastrous could go wrong and walked back out. Hugh was sitting at the counter with a 맥주 in his hands, twirling it so the amber liquid hit the fluorescent light just right. Lisa took her 좌석 again and drank her 맥주 silently, swiveling occasionally to see her surroundings. But all the while she was minding her own, Hugh was staring at her from head to toe…and she knew it. “Do 당신 have a problem?” She finally asked. “N-no. Sorry.” He stuttered and looked away. “I’ll have a 버번, 부르봉 왕가 please.” And so the night went on. Hugh taking glances at her every 10 seconds, her swallowing 2 더 많이 bourbons . This went on until 12 am when Lisa was thoroughly drunk. She hadn’t had a lot compared to regular drinkers but for a little lady her size and considering she barely drinks, the 2 beers and bourbons were enough to put her into a state of oblivion. Hugh on the other hand had managed his beers wisely and had only 3 and so was very sober.
“Hughhhh!” Lisa fell into his chest and laughed hysterically before getting real close to his face and speaking. “You are soooooo sexyyyyyyyy!!!” He laughed at how inebriated she was and tried to cover his blush. She always did have that effect on him. “I’ve gotanidea…” She slurred while bringing her lips up to his ear. “You. Me. In one of the bathroom stalls…in about ohhhhh 10 seconds.” “As tempting an offer as that is,” He just smiled and gently pushed her back down to her seat. “I’m going to have to pass. But I have an even better idea.” “Really!? What?!” The tender cleaned their glasses from the counter. “How about I drive 당신 집 where 당신 can take a nice nap in your own cozy bedroom!” He felt like he was talking to a 10 년 old. “Ohhh Hughhhhh. You’re so damn conservative. Let the reigns go for one night.” Lisa got up and started to dance but tripped over her own feet the 분 she stood.
Hugh, expecting the expected, was ready to catch her. She landed in his arms in sort of a dip, as if they were dancing. They just stayed like that for a moment, looking into each other’s eyes. “Hugh,…I…I…ilove…” And she was out like a light before she could finish her sentence/confession. “Perfect.” Sarcasm was his specialty. He picked her sleeping body up and into his arms and some how managed to set the money on the counter and grab her 지갑 all the while carrying her.
He couldn’t risk calling a cab for fear the driver might recognize him (or her) again, and besides, he wasn’t as plastered as she was. He loaded her in the passengers 좌석 and got in the drivers side. He figured his place was closer and a tad 더 많이 secluded so he drove back to his place. While getting her out of the car, she woke up only to stand, puke all over him and her, walk upstairs and help Hugh change her clothes. Which was a difficult task seeing as how Hugh couldn’t look at her 또는 really touch her. Seeing as all 3 guest rooms were filled with his 정크 (because he never planned having guests) he stuck her in his room. So after putting her to 침대 he roamed downstairs to find the 침상, 소파 occupied 의해 a mountain of clean/dirty clothes. Seeing as his options were really limited he had no choice but to sleep 다음 to her. If it was a little later than 2 am and if he wasn’t so damn tired, he might have had the conscious to tell him he should sleep on the floor 또는 something but he just wanted to sleep. And so he did.
