Sequence Four

2 Years Later…

Reesa was now pregnant with her first child. This made Melik’s job much harder, as he had to not only take care of her, but he now had to work twice as hard in the labs. Still though, they were no longer living in their little apartments, but they were making very good pay. Nothing went unattended. And yet, Reesa still felt as if her life was horrible, but when 당신 have another living person getting larger inside your body, one would have a good reason for being miserable.

Melik opened the door to their quaint, yet plentiful house, tossed his 코트 at a stand, missed, ignored it, then collapsed on the living-room couch. “Ten seconds.” He said tiredly. “All I need. … … 1… 2… 3-“

“Melik?? Are 당신 home???” Reesa called from her bedroom

“4, 5, 6, 7, oh forget it. Yes! Do 당신 need something???”

“An ice-pack would help!”

Melik quickly ran into the kitchen, slipped and fell, got back up, filled a ziplock-bag with ice, then rushed in to give it to his melting wife, who was laying down on their large bed. “Mmmm… thank you.” Reesa sighed in relief as Melik carefully laid the bag on her forehead.

“How are 당신 feeling?” He asked in a very husband-like concerned voice.

“I’m alright now. I was wondering something though.”

“What’s that?”

“Well two things actually. One is how Melcro’s been 연기 lately.”

“How would 당신 know how he’s acting? You’ve been here for almost three weeks. Well here and a few other places with Felicia.”

“Well I was looking at the experiment-video-feed for future research and all, and I heard something in the background, so I amplified the background noise and heard a bit of a strange conversation.”

“Really? Didn’t even know 당신 knew how to do that… how do 당신 know how to do that?”

“That’s not the point. He was talking about some really crazy stuff. It kind of unnerved me a bit. Just check my computer.”

Melik walked over and picked up Reesa’s laptop, then played the video. The conversation parts that were heard were the following.

Melcro- “An- f they were t- d out?”

?- “Sir, there’s n- ns of them hav-…”

Melcro- “Then I guess we’ll have to w-… see. And w-… payed… said amount f-… -tion?”

??- “Your fund-… -ill not be a problem. As l-… with the DNA’s… superso-… “

Melcro- “Very good. 당신 will be ha-… are expecting a ch-… …”

??- “And th-… of you?”

Melcro- “Surveillance w- -ot be unno-… they do-… so wait we-…”

?- “Sir, ar- … what if th-… something?”

Melcro- “Re-… home, not here. A-…. Aci-… is too-… in hi- -ork.”

??- “Then it’s settled. Fo- -ow.”

Melcro- “Thank 당신 for your time, Devi-…”

“Do 당신 have any idea what that means?” Reesa asked in a very scared tone.

“Hmmm…” Melik did not answer the 질문 for a good bit of time. He was trying to think of ways to calm his pregnant wife. “It’s probably just a normal business transaction. Nothing to be worried about.”

“It sounded like they were spying on someone to me.” She replied unconvinced.

“I- I don’t think that’s what they’re doing, but what would 당신 have me do?

“Melik, I could hear ‘Acid’ almost, I could hear my name almost, followed 의해 ‘home’. I don’t think any of this is safe.”

“I’ll tell 당신 what. I’ll go up tomorrow and ask-“

“You can’t just ask! They’ll… They’ll…” Reesa started to tear up now. “What if they find out about us? What will it be like for our daughter?”

Melik took Reesa’s hand gently, looked deep into her eyes, and said “As long as I am your husband, and as long as I am alive, I will not let anything happen to 당신 또는 our daughter.”

Reesa gave a short-range hug, which Melik embraced quickly. She held him tightly, with a still teary face. “I just don’t want it to happen again.” She cried.

“I know…” Melik called Felicia and had her come over to take care of Reesa. 다음 he left the house, got in the car, and drove back to Melcro-labs.

Along the way he devised a small plan which he could only hope would work. And so…

“Name?” The guard asked at the front desk.

“Melik Avi.”

“Age?”

“Age? Okay… 30.”

“Serial Number?”

“What’s with all the lock and key? All I usually need to do is swipe my card and I’m in.”

“Have 당신 already done your shift?”

“Yes.”

“Then why did 당신 come back?”

“I left my phone.”

“… And where did 당신 leave it?”

“I don’t know. That’s why I came back!”

“… Can I have your card then please?”

“Here.” Melik said with a sigh. The guard let him in, then as soon as he was out of sight, Melik ducted into a 랜덤 office that was thankfully unoccupied. 다음 he looked around and eventually found a 드라이버 in one of the drawers, which he used to unscrew the air-vent. Melik climbed through, and used his not-so-missing phone to find out where Melcro’s office was.

After a good twenty 분 he had made it to the vent above the office. He could tell that this was the vent because it was blocked 의해 a laser-grid. Melik stretched out his metallic-claws, and placed them in between the beams, which quickly heated his hands. He cut through the vent, then slowly made his way down into Melcro’s office.

After he could feel his hands again, Melik closed the blinds, darkened the room, and went to work on Melcro’s computer. It was already signed in. This would make things both harder and easier. Easier obviously because he did not have to guess the password, but harder because that meant that Melcro was on it recently and meant to come back.

He took out his phone again, and hooked it up to the desktop. From there he downloaded all the files he could, then slipped out the door. Thankfully because it was now 6:40 not many people were still there. He got out nervously, with his now dirtied clothes, and drove home.

At first Melik wanted to show Reesa the whole thing personally, but when he took into consideration the stress of the baby, and the fact that it was she who was worried about this entire idea in the first place, he decided to view what he could on the go.

The acid-monster parked near a small neighborhood, and turned on his phone. He searched through the files that were mostly finances and projects he knew about until he came across a file labeled “Hellborn”. It was with a great amount of both sadness and fear that he opened this file. It was exactly what he thought it was.

Pictures of acid-monster, and banshees flooded the screen. There were dozens of autopsies, dissections, infusions, and more. Melcro had information about hundreds of different “hellborns”; where they lived, what they did, what blood type they were, ect. He had everything.

Melik searched for his and Reesa’s names. It had Reesa listed under “unconfirmed”. This gave Melik a very small amount of relief. He was listed as “Known Acid-Monster”. But why was Melcro not capturing him? Did he want to take him 의해 surprise? Did he want to gather 더 많이 information from him? The real reason hit Melik with a very large amount of grief; his lineage. He knew very little about it. Perhaps he was a descendant of some special and rare breed of Acid-Monster. But if he was so rare, Melcro would want to get him even sooner. Why hadn’t he acted yet? The answer, was his offspring.

A hybrid of two hellborn-mobians would be a scientific breakthrough of the second-to-highest quantity; the highest being a hybrid of all three hellborn-types. But Reesa was listed as “unconfirmed”… Melik continued to 검색 under her name and found that the part about her being unconfirmed was not if she was a banshee. They knew that already. The part that Melcro had been wondering about was if she was another rare-hellborn-type; Daricha-Banshee.

Daricha; Moonlight, 또는 더 많이 commonly referred to as darkness. Daricha was the Mobian-Seven-Server of Darkness itself. It was said that the fusion of her and the Psychic-Sever was the reason for the Banshee-Evolution. Mind and Darkness creates sound. And any banshee in that lineage would be able to control immense power.

And so it finally became clear. Melcro would wait. He would wait until their child was born, then take her; a hybrid of two of the rarest species of hellborn, and turn her into a weapon. Melik could only hope it was a weapon Melcro would want. He dared not imagine what else he would use his child for.

Nothing was safe. The only thing Melik still had in the cards was that Melcro did not know that he had found out… hopefully. He started up the car again, and drove back home. What would he tell Reesa; his already panicked, and with-child wife? He would not be able to keep the truth from her.

He would have to tell her. He would have to tell her and they would have to run. And not just for their own sakes. If knowledge were to get out, they would be facing a 초 “Refine”. And Melcro would be at the front lines; sending whatever experiments he had already created after every single Hellborn.

Melik walked nervously to his doorstep. He looked down at his feet for a moment, and all hope died. A basket of gifts for Reesa.
The card said “For the lovely little couple. Best wishes for your expectance, and greater wishes to the safety of your family.”
