Chapter 13: Not So Happily Ever After
“Who’s it from?” Clark asked as he reread the message for the hundredth time before handing it back to her.
“I don’t know, it says ‘Unknown Caller’.” She told him confused. “Do 당신 think it’s the same guy who sent me the flowers?”
“Probably.” He rolled his eyes. She shot him an unpleased look. He returned an innocent one. She sighed, tossing her phone back in her 지갑 and leaned forward.
“Listen here Smallville. This jealousy think has got to stop. 당신 shouldn’t be worried I’ll pick some cheesy Romeo-wannabe over you. 당신 can’t get rid of me that easy.” She winked.
“I know it’s just reminded me that I haven’t shown 당신 how much I 사랑 당신 enough. 당신 deserve to be showered with gifts and 꽃 and romantic texts and –“
“Whoa stop right there.” She interrupted him, putting her hands up. “First of all, romantic texts? 당신 can’t honestly tell me 당신 thought that was romantic. It was more, creepy than anything if 당신 ask me. And besides, how could 당신 not think 당신 show me just how much 당신 사랑 me? You’re willing to give up your life to help me raise a child that could be Oliver’s. Now that is the most romantic thing anyone has ever done for me.” She tilted her head and smiled before leaning across the desk, placing her hand on his cheek and 키싱 him. “When we go see Chloe tomorrow, we should show her that text message; she could probably work her computer genius skills and find out who sent it.” She said her lips inches away from his.
“Sounds good.” He smiled, before pulling her lips back to his.
“And 의해 the way, while 당신 were out god knows where your mom called to let us know she was going to be leaving tomorrow. She has to go back she has meetings and stuff. She said she was really sorry she couldn’t stay around longer, but I told her it was alright and that we would be fine on our own.” Lois winked.
“Does this mean we have the house all to ourselves?”
“That’s exactly what it means. And thank god, I don’t think I would be able to handle your teasing much longer.” She moaned as she leaned back in her chair.
“Me? Don’t put all this on me! We’ve already gone over this; I'm not the only one who has been teasing. I'm just stronger than 당신 are. I can control my sexual side but you….” He teased.
“Oh shut it Kent.” She laughed.
“I’m just surprised 당신 were able to keep your hands off me all those years we were just friends.” He mocked her, as her cheeks flushed.
“Oh don’t think I haven’t realized 의해 now that 당신 were using your x-ray vision long before I knew it existed.” She retorted. Clark just sat there trying to come up with a remark but couldn’t. She laughed very pleased with herself.
“Common, lets get out of here. How about we go for a coffee?” she smiled just as the police scanner went off describing some robbery on Fifth Street.
“Okay, I’ll go deal with the robbery and then meet 당신 there.”
“Sounds good, and don’t even think about standing me up again. Because if 당신 do 당신 will be having some very lonely nights on the 침상, 소파 for the 다음 couple of weeks.” She smirked.
“You’re hilarious.” He said sarcastically rolling his eyes. “See 당신 soon.” He stood up and kissed her before running off.
“Good luck!” she called out but he had already disappeared.

They stood outside Chloe and Jimmy’s doorway, preparing themselves for the conversation awaiting them on the other side of the door. Lois drew her hand up to the door about to knock but paused and let her hand fall to her side.
“Don’t worry.” Clark smiled, pulling her to face him. “It’s gonna be okay.” His voice was kind and comforting. He placed his hands on her shoulders giving her a sense of strength as he stared deep into her eyes. She slowly nodded and returned to facing the door.
“Okay.” She took a deep breath. “Let’s do this.” She said firmly and knocked on the door. She wasn’t sure if it was because of how nervous she was 또는 not but the wait in between her knock and when her cousin opened the door felt excruciatingly long. The door swung open revealing the familiar petit blonde with a huge grin on her face.
“Clark! Lois! It’s so good to see 당신 guys!” she said eagerly as she pulled the two of them into a hug. “Jimmy they’re here!” she called out to the other room. She turned back to face Lois, and brought her in for another hug. “Lois I'm so glad you’re okay. I was so worried about you!”
“Aw 당신 shouldn’t have been. Come on cuz, 당신 know me! A little car accident won’t stop Lois Lane.” She grinned, pulling back from the hug, hoping Chloe hadn’t felt the small bump growing under her shirt.
“Hey guys! How’s it going?” Jimmy said brightly as he walked into the room.
“Hey jimmy.” Lois smiled. “I'm good and you?” she asked before 키싱 his cheek.
“Couldn’t be better!” he smiled as he stroked Chloe’s back. “What about 당신 CK? Doing better now that your girl is better?”
“Yeah, much better.” He grinned, placing his arm around Lois’ shoulder.
“Good because let me tell 당신 Lois, he was a mess. He barely slept, he looked like a hobo, it wasn’t pretty.” He shook his head. Lois couldn’t help the red tint that glazed over her cheeks. She wasn’t sure why they did; there was just something about the idea of Clark being a mess because she was in the hospital that made her feel that way.
“I was worried!” Clark said coyly as he shrugged. Lois giggled at his cute response.
“Come on and sit 당신 guys.” Chloe insisted and headed for the living room. “Anything new with 당신 two?” She asked as they all took a seat. Clark and Lois shared a nervous glance as they sat down on the 침상, 소파 with Chloe and Jimmy sitting on chairs on each side of them.
“Well…” Lois chuckled awkwardly and Clark ruffled his hair. Chloe and Jimmy both looked at them curiously.
“Well what?” Chloe asked her eyes growing wide in anticipation. Lois shifted in her seat.
“Clark honey, why don’t 당신 tell them.” She smiled patting his back.
“Lois and I are having a baby.” Clark said proudly wrapping his arm around her. Chloe’s jaw-dropped and Jimmy’s expression lit up like a 크리스마스 tree. Neither of them said anything making Clark and Lois both very nervous.
“That’s great!” Jimmy exclaimed. “I always knew the two of 당신 were perfect for each other! And now a baby? Wow this is great news!”
“Congratulations!” Chloe joined in. “I'm so happy for the two of you! We have to celebrate! Jimmy go get a bottle of champagne…” her voice trailed off as she glanced at Lois. “…and a soda!” she added and clapped excitedly. Lois and Clark sighed in relief at their reaction to the news. “Wait Clark…can 당신 even have kids? With humans I mean?” she questioned before covering her mouth with her hand when she realized Lois was sitting right there.
“Its okay, Lois knows.” Clark told her and saw Chloe smile in relief.”And well, I guess I can!” he forced a smile knowing full-well what must be going on in Lois’ mind. He looked at Lois, her eyes squeezed tightly shut, fighting off the tears. He picked up her hand with his and held it tightly.
“Lois are 당신 okay?” Chloe asked nervously as she watched her cousin. Lois took a deep breath and put on the best fake smile she could.
“Yeah Chlo, I'm fine.” She reassured her as Jimmy walked back in with champagne, soda and four glasses. He popped open the champagne, pouring it into the three glasses and filling up the fourth with Lois’ soda.
“To Lois and Clark and their baby. Cheers!” Chloe said happily. Clark leaned over to Lois.
“It’s gonna be okay.” He whispered. He saw a genuine smile come across her lips as she mouthed ‘Thank You’ to him.
“Oh 저기요 Chlo 의해 the way, if I gave 당신 my cell would 당신 be able to work your magic and find out who sent me a text message even if there’s no number?” Lois questioned as she opened her bag.
“Yeah I’ll see what I can do…why?” she asked as her brows wrinkled in confusion.
“I got a weird text message and I want to know who it’s from.” Lois said, handing her the phone.
“Okay, I’ll call 당신 if I get something.” She smiled.
“Thanks.”

When they got home, the sun was beginning to set. They got out of the car and walked up the front steps to find a brown box waiting for them. Lois bent down and picked it up sending Clark a nervous glance. She slowly took off the 상단, 맨 위로 and pulled back the tissue paper. She pulled out a tiny red dress, which was the perfect size. She shuffled through the box looking for a card. She flipped it over, emptying it out and she picked up a small card that fell to the ground. “Red is your color, trust me.” She read. Lois and Clark sat nervously in the cold doctor’s office for the 초 time that week. They had been called in to hear the results of the DNA test they had ordered. Lois sat playing with her sleeve while Clark was pacing back and forth across the office. They were pulled away from their nervous habits 의해 the doctor who entered the room. Clark quickly took a 좌석 beside Lois holding her hands between his for support.
“Good afternoon Ms. Lane, Mr. Kent.” He nodded and smiled politely.
“Hi, call me Lois.” She said, barely managing to get the words out. Her 심장 began to race as he opened the folder that he was holding.
“Alright then Lois, I have your results right here.” He told them, Clark’s grip on Lois’ hands tightened. “The DNA test proves that the father of your child Lois is…” his voice trailed off as he squinted at the paper. It was as if he was trying to create some sort of suspense to torture them. “Oh yes here it is, the father of your child is Clark Kent.” He smiled unsure of whether this was the news they wanted to hear 또는 not.
Lois shook with excitement as she turned to Clark whose eyes were glazed over with tears. Her lips smacked his before being pulled into a tight embrace. They stayed in each others arms as her tears soaked his 셔츠 and he nuzzled her hair.
“I 사랑 당신 so much.” She beamed. She was so happy a tiny giggle escaped from her lips.
“I 사랑 당신 too Lo, 당신 and our baby.” He grinned. “Our baby.” He repeated overwhelmed with joy. They broke apart from the hug when Lois’ phone started to ring. She checked the caller ID which read ‘Chloe’.
“Hey Chlo, what’s up?” she asked as she placed the phone to her ear. She tried chocking back the tears so her cousin wouldn’t ask any questions.
“Hey Lois, I found out who sent 당신 that message.” Chloe answered in a strange tone.
“Who’s it from?” she asked, cautiously.
“Oliver Queen.”
