I also see Henry Dashwood from What a Girl Wants and Jack from the Importance of Being Earnest and Mark from Bridget Jones Diary, etc. It is more difficult for me to get into him as Mr. Darcy. posted over a year ago.

So as far as staying true to Jane Austen Colin Firth beats macfayden hands down. Unfortunately MacFayden is going to be the more popular of the two because more romance was involved in that movie. The 2005 version was good but does not depict Pride and Prejudice as Jane Austen would have wanted it. posted over a year ago.

As a whole I thought the 2005 version was more modern than it should have been but the chemistry is wonderful between the characters and although it does reflect the true form of the book it is so satisfying to watch! I think it's difficult to choose because they didn't play exactly the same role so we could only compare them as it shoud be if there were 2 same movies (but one with matthew and another with colin). They are actors and they just did what they had been told. Colin had more oportunity to show himself as Darcy because his version was much bigger and more similar to the book than the movie of 2005. And although the movie of 2005 isn't so faithful to the book Matthew has done an excellent work as Darcy! I can't imagine the movie with Colin instead Matthew,no one can replace the way Matthew looks at Lizzie! But as I said in the other question, the best version of Pride and Prejudice ever would be Matthew and Keira playing the roles of Colin and Jennifer in the BBC version!! Despite my opinion I don't deny that Colin was quite good too, I just prefer Matthew lol posted over a year ago.
