“Lauren, come on! We’ve got to get to the arena for practice. 당신 know Luke doesn’t like it when we’re late,” Madeline explained to her sister.
Lauren was still sitting on Half-Blood hill, right 다음 to Thalia’s tree. Annabeth was on her way to living her dream, to be on a quest. Lauren was happy for her, truly. She was just thinking about… what if she didn’t make it? What if that was the last time she saw her? Sure, Grover will protect her but that Percy boy? No one trusted him. He was a Poseidon boy, trusting him would be against everything they believed in.
“Alright, Mads. I’m coming, I’m coming. I just need a little bit of time. 당신 go on to the Arena and tell Luke I’ll be there in a few minutes.”
“You got it!” Madeline said as she ran down the hill. She was the newest addition to the Athena cabin. Ten years old, she spent four years in the Hermes cabin. Everyone thought she was an Aphrodite kid because of her beauty. Blonde hair, blue/gray eyes, not too skinny and not too chubby, and she was so cute and nice. Lauren remembered stories from Chiron all the time about when Annabeth started out here. She thought it was all so amazing that one little girl could make that long until Luke and 탈리아 finally found her.

“She was a very confident person when she first came here. She still is and she surely thinks she can to everything and anything and if 당신 know Annabeth like I do, 당신 know that she can,” Chiron explained to a seven 년 old Lauren.
“Does she feel guilty about 당신 know, 탈리아 dying for her and Luke’s lives?” Lauren asked hesitantly. She didn’t want to ask something offensive.
Chiron trotted over to the other end of the porch and sighed. “Yes, 당신 can see it in her eyes whenever someone talks about her. Luke feels guilty as well.”
“It wasn’t their fault, and 당신 know that too don’t you?”
“Yes, and it’s not fair that Annabeth has to live with that. Thinking it was her fault. 탈리아 was like a sister. It would be like 당신 losing Annabeth 또는 one of your step brothers 또는 step sisters.”
“I wouldn’t like that. Just thinking about that makes me want to cry,” Lauren said sitting down on one of the chairs.
“But, Annabeth can handle it just like she handles not having a 집 to go to after the summer is over, and everything else she deals with. One thing I want 당신 to know, everyone can know that she’s sad 또는 scared 또는 just wants to cry, but she’ll never admit and she’ll never show it.”
