brooke knows coop because like alessandra_28 said nathan and brooke were friends, it was implied they have met before the show started and brooke had a crush on nathans hot uncle coop.

They weren't really friends,they just knew eachother through Peyton.

Probably knew each other because Nathan was in their group and he came to visit and Brooke had fantasies about him... lol.

I don't know if you meant met for the first time, but they did talk/meet face to face. I just watched it. In S3, not sure what eppy, but if you have the S3 DvD then it would be in Disc 6. It was a scene where both Brooke & mouth met up in the Cafe to try and make a plan to expose Rachel and her lying to coop about her age. The eppy is after the other eppy where mouth showed up giving Rachel flowers until coop interrupted. Sorry i don't know what eppy was it, but i hope i helped a little bit.

It's not shown in OTH but I guess before season1 started she was in Nathan's clique with the parties and all and hanging out so she must've known him.
