So you\'re after some exciting One Direction based news today, are ya? Is the potential date for their album launch just not enough? Liam Payne\'s Attitude magazine shoot not cutting it? Oh alright fussy pants, here\'s something that will truly astound and amaze you then.

After years of painful waiting and praying for the dream boyband mash up, Westlife\'s Shane Filan has revealed that he would indeed like to work with Niall Horan in the future.

Yep, ultimate Irish anthem \'Act My Age\' could be getting a 2.0, with added Irishness plus some more Irish.

In news that would probably actually kill off Louis Walsh with sheer joy, a Westlife and One Direction collab (sort of) could be on the cards if Shane gets his way.

Speaking to the Daily Star, Mr Westlife went off on a total Irish-fest, predicting: "Niall will do music [after the One Direction break], he is very talented. If it came to song writing of course I would work with him".

But seeing as there\'s all sorts of random rumours about Niall\'s plans for the hiatus, Shane\'s got a back up plan too, just incase El Horanzo\'s too busy to write the perfect key change with him.

"If we didn\'t write a good song at least we could have a few pints as he is Irish", Shane said. "He is great craic."

Shane\'s actually more of a fangirl than you think y\'know, as he also wanted to make sure he cleared up the rumours about their \'split\'.

"1D are taking a break, it\'s not a split", he added. "From what I\'ve heard inside the industry, it\'s just a break as they are just knackered."
