A first glimpse at this one has been a long time coming, but we finally have a trailer for Martin Scorsese’s new movie,

is based on the book by Shusaku Endo, and it’s a story set in 17th century Japan. It follows a pair of priests – played by Adam Driver and Andrew Garfield – who go hunting for their mentor, played by Liam Neeson. The problem being that this is an era when Christianity was against the law, and intolerance was high.

is set to be released in American cinemas next month, and we get it in the UK on January 1st 2017. The first trailer for the movie looks like this…

Martin Scorsese’s SILENCE tells the story of two Christian missionaries (Andrew Garfield and Adam Driver) who face the ultimate test of faith when they travel to Japan in search of their missing mentor (Liam Neeson) – at a time when Christianity was outlawed and their presence forbidden. The celebrated director’s 28-year journey to bring Shusaku Endo’s 1966 acclaimed novel to life will be in theaters this Christmas.
