Why is iggy blind

The scientists wanted to enhance his night sight.

When they were still at the school, the whitecoats, wanted to enhance his sight. They accidentally made him blind. (so I believe)

Iggy is blind because the whitecoats decided to try and improve his night vision... But sadly,it failed dramatically. :I

The Whitecoats experimented on Iggy while he was awake to try and give him night vision. But it failed and left him blind.
