I remember visiting this website once...
It was called Album review: Little Mix - Get Weird
Here's some stuff I remembered seeing:
X Factor 2015: Everything you need to know about...
Apparently Little Mix like to make things really hard for themselves. Back in 2013 they released their second album
showcasing some slick \'90s throwback vibes, maturity and - of course - \'Move.\' Like, seriously; how the
Well the girls have been pretty open about the fact they struggled to settle on the direction of their new album; scrapping an entire batch of songs before finally sorting their shit out and putting
together. So was it all worth the two year wait or should Perrie, Jade, jesy and Leigh-Anne have just chucked the towel in when they feared they were gonna be \'no more\'? Let\'s \'ave a listen.
You know how they say the best things come to those who wait? Well we\'re impatient af, but we\'re inclined to believe it. It\'s sort of not even about topping
\'s just totally different to the point they can\'t really be compared.
If anything, this album\'s a more confident and cohesive progression of their debut
\'s all about character, personality and proper pop. These girls have never been ones to hop on the bandwagon and follow trends. When they launched with \'Wings\' they refused to comply with that whole David Guetta dance formula everyone was doing at the time, and nothing\'s changed. Little Mix aren\'t afraid to embrace who they are and experiment; and that\'s kind of what this album\'s about.
Also we were told we were getting an \'80s-inspired album, and while the first single \'Black Magic\' obviously ticks that box there\'s a lot more to
than that. They can also serve some \'60s sounds and fit a \'50s-style throwback in there without it sounding messy and misguided. Oh, it\'s ECLECTIC.
Jesus, where do we even start? \'Black Magic\' has done that already (slay), but this one\'s full of tracks worthy of the full single treatment. In fact we\'re gonna bullet point this bit for fear of us yappin\' on and talking absolute shit.
This is the Jason Derulo collab we can see the US market eating up for breakfast, lunch and dinner. \'Jason Derulo collab?\', we hear you cry, \'this one\'s bound to be a banger.\' Well, um, it\'s actually a big ballad that might even be more a moment than \'These Four Walls.\' \'Secret Love Song\' is all about being with someone but, for some reason, not being able to snog \'em in public and stuff.
The girls\' soaring vocals on that chorus have legitimately left us sobbing, the lyrics are properly beautiful and we
wish this had been released as the girls\' Christmas ballad. If this one ends up on our \'album tracks that should have been singles\' list we\'ll be well disappointed.
Also can we discuss Leigh-Anne\'s voice on that final chorus? Dead.
You know how the girls wrote \'Pretty Girls\' and it ended up becoming a Britney Spears/Iggy Azalea single? Well \'OMG\' is kinda along the same lines. Big, brash bass, Iggy \'Fancy\' teas and a DJ Mustard sound despite the fact he didn\'t actually produce it. This one\'s undoubtedly the sassiest of the lot with its playground chant chorus of \'oh my gosh I did it again, he said I broke his heart, it keeps happening.\'
The one sums up Little Mix\'s girl power stance in one song and we\'re
. It\'s basically the musical equivalent of the nail painting emoji.
AKA All Day I Dream About Sex With You. The album\'s cheekiest moment, this one\'s essentially all about shagging and sees Jade singing things along the lines of \'iced you a cake but that ain\'t what you ate.\' SOMEONE POINT THE DESK FAN IN OUR DIRECTION. CHRIST.
We\'ve seen people point out that this one\'s a bit like a Meghan Trainor song and tbh we can\'t draw a better comparison so we\'re just gonna go with that. Big love for Leigh\'s rap, too. \'MILKSHAKEEEE, MILKSHAKEEEE.\'
We actually adore this one but can\'t actually type because we can\'t see through the tears. Stunning pretty much covers it, though.
Literally anywhere an everywhere. This cliché gets batted about by loads of #lazyjournos, but there\'s a song on there for everyone.
Pissed off bae\'s read and not replied? You\'re gonna wanna shake him/her off and blast \'Hair.\' Need a new go-to shower song? Say hello to glorious a capella album closer \'The End.\' Suffering low self-esteem? \'I Won\'t\' might just be your saviour when you\'re feeling a bit shit.
, but that definitely doesn\'t mean it\'s a step back for the girls. Tracks like \'Secret Love Song\' and \'Lightning\' prove Little Mix\'s sound\'s evolved from the
days and, to be honest, this album\'s potentially packed with more personality than we\'ve ever heard on a pop album. It just feels like
Not gonna lie, some of the tracks are growers and might not be instant faves; but we\'re sort of looking at is as
\'s older sister and the epitome of the girls\' signature sound. Seriously, it\'s so good.
What d\'ya make of that, then? Gonna be downloading Get Weird on November 6th? Tweet us over @sugarscape or drop a comment in the box below, puhlease. TA.
