"This thing is cool!" Zach exclaimed about the pocket sized squirt gun he managed to snatch from a bratty kid who had tried to squirt him with it. We were headed back to the parking lot to get Kate and Stormy and go elsewhere.
"Dude 당신 better not squirt me with that 또는 else!" I joked with him. We were now getting closer to the parking lot; I looked toward the young 나무, 트리 where Kate and Stormy should have been waiting. They were not there; fear welled up inside me, any traces of humor immediately was gone.
"Where are they?" Zach asked aware of my rising frustration.
"I don't know but lets find them NOW!"
Kate was now about to give up; Stormy had ceased growling and now crouched behind her.
"I'm so sorry I got 당신 into this!" Kate exclaimed quietly as possible. Stormy began to say something but just then the man lunged at them. Kate braced herself for the impact; trying to shield Stormy, she heard the man grunt loudly.
"Huh?" Kate looked up to see a pair of powerful arms gripping the man around his torso as he was roughly jerked off his feet away from Kate and Stormy, and thrown to the ground. The tongs flew out of his hands and clattered to the ground some feet away. The man looked wildly around and sneered at his ambush attacker before lunging at him, Kate saw it was Jon.
"Look out!" Kate yelled but Jon swung his right arm out and caught the man right in the chest; sending him sprawling to the ground again.
"Omfh!" Was all the man could say because the wind was knocked out of him. Jon lashed out with his hands and dug his fingers into the man's shirt, lifting him up off the ground and pinning him to the wall. Kate had never seen him so upset before and was awestruck. Stormy took the opportunity to hurry over and stand 의해 Zach who stood there watching with a mildly shocked expression. Jon was in a rage.
"If 당신 ever come near my girlfriend and my dog again!" His fists were tightly closed on the man's shirt; the weight of his body pressing the man helplessly against the wall, the man's feet were not even touching the ground.
"I..." The man gasped, "didn't...know they were yours, I'm sorry," he rasped hoarsely. Jon moved his face so his eyes were glaring right into the man's.
"I suggest 당신 go back into your house and stay there, 당신 got off lucky this time Russ now get on out of this alley! Alcoholics like 당신 should never be seen in public!" Jon released him and he slid the last few inches down the 벽 so his feet touched ground. Jon stepped back and watched him stagger toward the porch of his disheveled 집 and climb the 3 stairs.
"I'm sorry, it won't happen again," said the man named Russ timidly. He then opened the door and walked backwards into the dark 우주 that was his house, keeping his bloodshot eyes on Jon. The door closed and a faint 'click' was heard indicating the door was locked. Kate approached Jon happily.
"Jon I..." The latter's stern voice cut her off.
"You've deliberately disobeyed me is what 당신 have done, what were 당신 thinking?" Jon jerked his head and glared right into her eyes; they were no longer bright blue but a cold gray.
"Jon I'm, I'm sorry!"
"Let's go home!" Once again very stern, Jon led the way out of the alley. He kicked the tongs out of his way muttering something inaudible to either Kate, Stormy, 또는 Zach. Zach caught up and followed closely behind Jon, Kate and Stormy stayed a few feet behind both of them. The shame was too much for them to handle.
"You were very 메리다와 마법의 숲 protecting me like that," Stormy whispered to Kate.
After what seemed like an eternity they arrived at the Blazer. Jon opened his door and this time actually moved the 좌석 forward.
"In the back!" He snapped his fingers, both Kate and Stormy scrambled back there. Jon put the 좌석 back into it's normal position and roughly sat down and slammed the door shut, folding his arms across his chest. Without a word Zach started the Blazer and began to drive. Nothing was said except Jon placed his arms on the armrests and started to tap his fingers. They drove for a few miles; the Blazer took a right off the highway they were on. Kate noticed that tall trees and bushes were beginning to go by; they were almost home. Kate knew because this is the way Jon drove 집 after school which seemed so long 이전 now.
"Zach! Take a left right there and stop," Jon pointed at something that Kate could not see. They turned into a pullout with a bridge over a creek and a trail that began at the end of the bridge. Jon got out and ducked his head back in to talk to Zach.
"Take Stormy 집 and leave her 의해 the back door, I've got to talk to Kate about something." Zach nodded Jon motioned for Kate to get out. She did and he closed the door and strided across the bridge and sat down on a bench made out of some type of log that overlooked the creek.
Kate had stood there looking back at the Blazer as it turned away and headed back down the road they were just on.
"Kate!" Came Jon's voice from across the water. The sun was set and the sky had turned to a dim pink, Kate slowly crossed the bridge. She sat down 다음 to the bench and glanced up at Jon. His face had softened some but there was still frustration in his expression.
"Kate I am very upset with you! 당신 could've been seriously hurt 또는 killed! Whats even worse 당신 put Stormy in big danger!" Jon said; he was no longer raging mad but his voice was still quite stern.
"I was just following my nose, I asked Stormy to follow and I feel terrible I got us into that mess!" Kate was on the verge of tears but she felt Jon's soothing hand stroke her back, it felt so right. He moved so he was sitting on the ground with her, he embraced her.
"I'm sorry for snapping at 당신 Kate but my biggest fear is losing 당신 또는 Stormy, please don't scare me like that again that's all I ask."
"You know what?" Kate asked him.
"What?"
"I think that 당신 gave that guy Russ a bigger scare, and he learned something from it!" Kate told him.
"Ha ha ha! Because nobody messes with me!"
Then without a heed of warning Jon jumped up and ran down the trail, clearly in a playful manner. Kate bounded joyfully after him and he dashed off the trail into the grass. Kate jumped on his back and carefully brought him down, they were both laughing. Jon was laying on his chest and Kate rested on 상단, 맨 위로 of his back; night had now taken over most of the sky.
"Jon?" She asked.
"Hmm?"
"We were made for each other right?"
"Right!"
"We will always be with each other right?" Jon didn't say anything but gently rolled her off his back into the cool 잔디 so she was looking up at the dark sky, stars were beginning to appear.
"Yes Kate, 연인들 for life! Too bad there is school again in the morning."
Jon got up and stretched his arms out to the sky, he pushed himself up with his feet stretching further.
"Aah, that's the spot!" Kate heard a pop in his back and then he brought his arms back down.
"What was that?" Kate asked.
"Oh just releasing the tension and stress from my body, takes it's toll on me if I don't. Usually caused after I have been through something similar to what happened tonight downtown but that is behind us now."
"You mean this has happened before?"
"Yes Kate, compared to what has happened to me in recent years this was nothing," he replied.
"Time to go 집 now Kate!" He started to walk back to the trail, she followed.
"Take my left once we get out on the 거리 I don't want a maniac driver to fly around a corner and hit you!"
"You are too kind to me Jon!" Kate teased him.
"Safety first for Kate, me second!" Jon laughed. They were to the bridge now and in the water's reflection a sliver of the moon could be seen rippling on the surface of the steady moving current.
"This place is so beautiful," Kate said.
"Yes it is. I was going to bring 당신 here eventually but didn't think I would bring 당신 here to scold you. 저기요 at least we both learned something tonight and that makes this moment special either way."
Using the hand rail on the bridge; Kate stood up on two legs, nearly eye-level with Jon but not quite. His right hand gripped the rail and she placed her left paw on it, he turned to look at her.
"It is a very special moment indeed," Kate said lovingly to him. She felt his hand gently close around her paw and he pulled her to him. Expecting him to 키스 her she closed her eyes but instead he embraced her firmly, not overly tight but firm. Normally she was not used to standing on her hind legs but both of Jon's arms held her to him and she knew that nothing wrong would happen.
"I 사랑 당신 Kate," was all Jon had to say.
After that Jon led the way home. Once there they found Stormy sleeping 의해 the back door and quietly the three of them snuck into the house. Jon changed into his pajamas and Kate lay in his spot on the 침대 waiting for him to finish brushing his teeth. He emerged from the bathroom, she saw that he looked very tired. Kate moved so she was on her side of the 침대 as Jon lay down.
"Warmed your spot for ya!" Kate said enthusiastically.
"Why thank 당신 very much Kate," Jon said shutting the lamp on the nightstand off.
"Dang it!"
"Whats wrong?" Kate asked.
"Forgot to set the alarm clock." Jon turned the light back on and picked up a black device with strange glowing red things on it and slid a button on the 상단, 맨 위로 of it forward.
"There 6 o'clock that thing goes off. It may startle 당신 but don't be worried I take a while to wake up so it may go on and off until 7 o'clock."
"That is fine with me, I don't mind." Kate told him.
"Good," he said once again turning off the lamp and rolling over so he was facing her. He wrapped his left arm around her and kissed her nose.
"Goodnight Kate, sweet dreams!"
Jon closed his eyes and withing a few 분 was breathing deeply.
"I 사랑 당신 too," she whispered remembering what he said at the bridge. Within a few 더 많이 분 Kate too was fast asleep, 로스트 in peaceful dreams.
