Rain to receive $5.5 million to star in Chinese drama, \'Diamond Lover\'

Singer and actor Rain is set to star in the Chinese drama \'Diamond Lover,\' and he will be receiving the A-list treatment for his top status as a Hallyu star. 

According to a representative of the drama, Rain will receive a guarantee of 6 billion KRW (around $5.5 million USD) due to his status in terms of star quality in China and his popularity.

For the drama, Rain will be taking on the role of So Ryang, the CEO of the world\'s greatest diamond company who is also known for his cold demeanor and for his perfectionist personality. The starring female role will be played by Chinese actress

Meanwhile, \'Diamond Lover,\' is set to begin filming in December in various locations including China, Belgium, and Seoul.

Dang no wonder idol actors are filthy rich. They already have a large fanbase due to their idol status. Then they display their acting talents and gain even more fans and attention. Rain FIGHTING!!

He is already halfway to carrying off that role cos he has the "chaebol" look!  Looking forward to this drama.  Does he speak Chinese?

People should know  that a lot of chinese dramas have voices dubbed EVEN when the actors are chinese. Like Zhou mi and Victoria acted in a drama once and their voices were dubbed, even when they\'re chinese. And also...a lot of BIG Chinese stars can receive up to like couple hundred thousand/ episode in China, it\'s common for it to add up to couple million or over.

@bestrc taiwan is still consider chinese just not part of China. And according to the another article the director of this drama had usually directed Taiwanese dramas.

@lostinthemeadow yes, nearly all Taiwanese are ethnic Han Chinese. But they are different countries....so a Chinese drama is distinct from a Taiwanese drama. Your original post referred to Taiwan, when according to this article, this drama is being produced, filmed, and financed in China. So understandably, I found it odd that you would drag a different country into your argument, irrespective of the director\'s other projects.
