and that the producers are now out to sign Johnny Depp. Scheduling is the reason behind Jackman’s exit, with the Australian star’s

I believed Hughman when he eluded that his days as Wolverine are winding down quickly. This supposedly prompted him to take on CB. Now days after he eludes to Old Man Logan at SDCC he’s dropping CB because of Wolverine commitments.

That sure doesn’t sound like an actor willing to give up the claws after 2 more films. Old Man Logan is an epic scale story that can easily be made into a trilogy. What’s more it features a grey-haired Wolverine. So Hughman could play that role into his 50’s or 60’s if he so chooses.

What it sounds like to me is that FOX was caught by surprise & got their X-Men brain trust to think of a way to keep Hughman in the fold as he grows older. Depp is no spring chicken himself these days & has the resume to make for a good replacement here. Think of his best stuff in Sleepy Hollow rather than Pirates of Carribean.

Well…there goes an interest in this movie…Jackman was the only reason why I got interested…if he was replaced by someone more interesting than Johnny “I am doing this just for a rent” Depp, but this…meh.

This is funny because Depp is much more interesting than Jackman. He is not just “doing this for a rent”. He obviously didn’t do Black Mass for a rent. He only does projects that he’s passionate about.

Have to agree. Without Jackman this just went on the trash pile of movies of no interest. It’s too ephemeral a film to have Depp clunking around.

Yeah, because Depp is “clunking around” in Black Mass, right? He is a much better actor than Jackman.

Jackman’s range is unbelievable with everything from intense drama (Prestige, Prisoners, The Fountain) to light comedy (Kate & Leopold, Someone like you) to Epic (Australia) then throw in the Oscar/Tony level singing and dancing and you have a once in a generation talent. Depp is okay but nothing on that scale.

The same and more can be said about Depp. From fantasy (Edward Scissorhands, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Alice in Wonderland) to serious drama (What’s Eating Gilbert Grape, Donnie Brasco, Finding Neverland, Blow) to comedic action (Pirates of the Caribbean, Once Upon a Time in Mexico, The Lone Ranger) to musicals (Sweeney Todd , Into the Woods) and throw in the fact that he sings, plays guitar, write and paints very well and you have an actual once in a lifetime talent. Depp is an icon, Jackman is not.
