On March 24, IU‘s agency, EDAM Entertainment updated their official Twitter account with an announcement regarding legal action against malicious comments.
They announced that the perpetrators would be receiving punishment for their acts without any leniency. “Based off the complaint filed in October 2019, the perpetrators violated 기사 311 of the Criminal Act and received the punishment for less than one 년 of prison 또는 a fine not exceeding 200 million won. The other perpetrators will also be facing punishment.”
They also revealed that they would be starting a 초 round of complaints with the same legal measures as before. “Due to this, we have started our investigation for the 초 round of complaints and will adhere to the same legal action without mercy just like in the first round. We hope that 당신 understand that we will not be able to expose details of this case until we are finished with the investigation.”
They hope that 팬 will continue to contribute to sending in information about malicious 코멘트 on online communities and social media. “We would also like to thank 팬 who sent in information from private and closed online communities as they have helped in the process of our continuous monitoring.”

After monitoring various social media and online communities, we previously announced that we would take legal action without mercy against those who spread malicious 코멘트 including sexual harassment, defamation, invasion of privacy, and attacks about IU.
Based off the complaint filed in October 2019, the perpetrators violated 기사 311 of the Criminal Act and received the punishment for less than one 년 of prison 또는 a fine not exceeding 200 million won. The other perpetrators will also be facing punishment.
Following the investigation results, they were found posting various malicious 코멘트 about our artist.
Due to this, we have started our investigation for the 초 round of complaints and will adhere to the same legal action without mercy just like in the first round. We hope that 당신 understand that we will not be able to expose details of this case until we are finished with the investigation.
We are still monitoring all the malicious 코멘트 along with the help from 팬 and our own data as well.
