They met at the train station. I remember that scene clearly. But what older Ted said to his kids that if he had gotten that job in Chicago Barney and Robin never would have gotten married and Ted never would have met the Mother.

I myself, thought he would actually talk to her at the wedding but it was at the train station in the rain.
