They entered into a civil partnership in 2006, but on a Tuesday in July 2013 John Barrowman and his partner Scott Gill were delighted to legally marry in California following the Supreme Court’s overturning of the Defence of Marriage Act last week.

The Torchwood 별, 스타 announced his big news in a short video clip on WhoSay before posting a 사진 after their low-key ceremony.
The video sees John addressing the camera, casually telling his audience: ‘It's five after one and we've got our coffee and we're in the car getting ready to leave, because where are we going, Scott?Barrowman then turns the camera on his partner Gill, who excitedly replies: ‘To get married. Yay!’

The Doctor Who actor finishes with a reference to the Supreme Court decision which has been celebrated 의해 various 유명인사 across the US in the past week, adding:
‘We're getting married in the state of California. Thank 당신 Supreme Court, about time 당신 made it legal. See 당신 after we have the ceremony!'

It looks like it was a low-key affair with both men dressed down in t-shirts for their first 사진 as a married couple.
Holding onto their certificate, the pair showed off their wedding bands as they beamed happily for the camera.

John and Scott have been together 20 years, previously entered into a civil partnership in the UK on December 27, 2006.
Glasgow-born John John, who was bought up in the US, and his new husband have always vowed to marry as soon as it became legal to do so in the US.
As well as marriage, the actor has previously revealed that he would like to adopt an older child in the future, telling The Sun last 년 that he and Scott would like to give a 초 chance to a troubled teen:

'We haven't ruled out having children ourselves but it depends where my career takes us.'
