Absolutely not!!! I mean I'm glad that Harry finally defeated the Dark Lord, thus saving all of Wizardom from his evil reign; and I'm glad in the aftermath of the war he was able to live a quiet life without drama, but as I see it, there is so much that could have been done to make the ending so much more worthwhile.
So much was wrong with the ending, including:
- Harry and Hermione ended up with people other than each other
- a bunch of good people and creatures died (RIP Luipn, Tonks, Freddie, Dobby, Hedwig)
- finding out that Snape is good only to lose him for a stupid reason (RIP Half Blood Prince)
Now I know there's a lot of you that will disagree with me on this. I know that there have to be casualties of war and that everything doesn't get wrapped up in a bow exactly the way you want it, but I mean come on!
If the point is to not give kids/readers a false sense of reality by not having things end all 'happily ever after' (showcased by the killing of half the people in the books and all the fighting everywhere), then what sense does it make to have a montage nearly 20 years later where the SAME pairings are still together?!?! Especially when the pairings are so mismatched at their core!!! Like really?? They've been together ALL THIS TIME?? That makes NO SENSE!!!!
I love Harry Potter to death, but the truth we can't do anything about the way the series was ended. In my opinion things could and should have gone a lot of different ways, but at this stage talking about it is pointless. What's done it done and we either take it or leave it.
For the most part, yeah. I mean (book-wise) I wish some things hadn't happened the way they did, but I don't think disliking the couples and the way a few people died is enough for me to dislike the over-all ending.
And I liked the way the movie wrapped up as well. Again, I wish there were a few things that were kept in (Harry fixing his wand, for starters), but, again, not enough for me to dislike it.
I liked the way the movie ended, but I wished a few things that were in the book was added to the movie. But other than that I really enjoyed it. Except Snape's death. Wonderful and beautiful performance by Alan Rickman (loved that), but so sad. I cried. :(
Very happy with it. There is so much hating on the epilogue, but I loved it. The only thing I didn't like was that H/G ended up together. Not that I didn't see it coming, but whatever.
