If Colin Creevey saw the basilisk through his camera and got petrefied, wouldnt Harry just get prtrefied 의해 looking at his eyes through his glasses?

In "Harry Potter and the chamber of secrets" Harry gets all worried that if he looks the basilisk in the eye, he'll die. However, the only way that 당신 dont get petrefied 의해 looking the basilisk in th eye is to look into its eyes through a reflection. So, if Colin Creevey got petrefied 의해 looking the basilisk in the eye through its camera lense, wouldn't Harry just get petrefied 의해 looking the basilisk in the eye through his glasses?

Well, yes.

To get petrified 당신 have to look at the reflection of the basilisk's eye.

Like someone above said, Moaning Myrtle died 의해 looking in the eye when she had glasses on, but Harry never looked into the eye of the snake, and then Fawkes like poked its eyes out, so when it came to the battle, that wasn't a problem.

I'm not 100% sure, but I believe that cameras have mirrors in their workings so that when your looking through them you're not looking at the exact image but a reflection of the reflection (2 mirrors so the image looks normal) of the image.

But glasses are to help 당신 see better. When 당신 see something through a camera the picture is distorted.

no he wouldnt have been petrified he would have died, in order to only be petrified 당신 would need to see the reflection of the basilisks eyes, seeing something through glasses is not seeing a reflection

MithrasPotter said:
The only problem is that Justin Flinch-Fletchley saw the basilisk through Nearly Headless Nick, not a reflection, and was still petrified. So, it cannot only be reflections that cause petrification, but other forms of distortion as well. That means either that Myrtle had removed her glasses because she was crying, 또는 that she saw the basilisk in her peripheral vision (unlikely...). The final pssibility is that glasses are somehow an exception. . .
