How can I manage my curly hair?

When my hair is dry and I brush it it's a big frizzy mess. But if I wet it and then let it dry,it stays really pretty and curly but it gets frizzy along the day. I don't want to spend hours on my hair, and I want my hair short so I can manage it but my stylist said if I did that my hair would be even frizzier. Is there a hairstyle out their that can help me and my mop of hair??
