^don't act butthurt its just a fact. they are the ugliest members in SNSD, period esp hyoyeon. Yoona is the saving grace of SNSD because people actually like her face, the only people who could also be the face is Seohyun or Yuri (she looks like Yoona). Everyone is either too short, ugly, or too dark.

i found it funny how you're saying that Yuri would be the second best option after Yoona, but then you contradict yourself, saying that the others are either too short, ugly or dark. Yuri IS the darkest member. so, what you're saying is invalid. not to mention that Yoona isn't even that white, i will never understand korean's definition of beauty. so, they're supposed to be tall, have a v shape, s line, double eyelids, big eyes and white skin. well, the only thing that Sooyoung doesn't have on the list is white skin....then why is she considered unnactractive? and then, you guys have ugly people like Sohee as the face of the group, yet, she doesn't have ANYTHING on that list. she's short, she has a round face, single eyelids and really small eyes. she looks like Sunny's sister sometimes. why is she the face of the group? i will never get these things...

I think the face should only appear at their early days. Now all of them have been known personally, other girls than Yoona should be in the center. It's both for fairness and for promoting each of them individually. I actually like videos like Hoot and Mr Taxi, wherein there's no real center.

Fact:Yoona is the only reason SNSD make as much money as they now, so before you all start whining think for a minute. They like her youthful looks and how innocent she looks, she gives that demure appearance. If you think SNSD would be just as popular with another member promoting them then you all really don't understand how things work.

You all think that personality matter when it doesn't in the music industry esp in Korea, if you don't look a certain way you don't get a job..a fucking job so if I tell that most people think Sunny and Hyoyeon are ugly I mean it, that is why they had to get plastic sugery and they still look funny.

1. it doesn't matter if your american or european that isn't going to change how things are for a "KOREAN" group. Your talking as if SNSD are anything but an Asian group who come from an Asian culture. They are not Western they are Eastern who value things different then others would. So when I say that some members are considered ugly or "less attractive" it is a fact because they are Koreans in a Korean Culture with Korean people in it.

Its nice that people think other members are pretty but since they are a Korean group you have to also judge by the standard of Koreans sometimes. Sunny has small eyes, an ugly nose, and is really short. Hyoyeon is just too much sometimes everything except her eyes are wrong. I like all SNSD members but I also understand reality.


2. I said Yuri because most people actually like her look despite how dark she is.

3.Sooyoung is unattractive because her face is shaped weird, she has to wear bangs in order for her face to give off the illusion of a V-line shape. She has nice long legs but like I said she appeals to an older crowd most of the time, I like her face but I also know my people to.

4.Soohee is like Rain and refused to get surgery and she isnt' ugly she just appeals to a bunch of old men fapping in their office (jk) but she has the right shape chin, and she isn't marketed as sexy so its the innocent look people like. Most images of groups are the ones that look the most "innocent" its a way to lure people in.

The point is that Yoona is not only necessary but vital for the group as far as an image goes, she is pretty and for some prettier then anyone else in SNSD and nothing will change that. She makes millions of dollars with her face, she makes the most money in her group because people actually like her look and what her to sponsor their product.

There has to be a face of the group because that is how groups get exposure, promotions, and money. So for SNSD the one who makes the most money gets to be the image...and its Yoona because she is considered the prettiest member and Koreans love her face too. don't forget the fact that Yoona was already popular before their debut, so of course that helped her image. i bet that if SM didn't over exposed Yoona that much, she wouldn't be that popular. look at Siwon from Suju. he's the face of the group, but he's far from being the most popular member. can you tell the difference? i sure can, since SM doesn't show his face 10 times during the MV's, against 2 or 3 from the others. they also don't give him lines that he doesn't deserve. same thing for Sulli. people actually thought Krystal was the face, not Sulli. what they did to Kai from EXO is the exact same thing they did with Yoona. trying to convince people that he and she are the most gorgeous on their respective groups, and that won't change. look at the amount of teasers that Kai got before their debut, despite not fiting to koreans beauty standarts. from what i know, he has dark skin
what SM does is simply strategy. if they didn't show Yoona that much in the middle since the BEGINNING, people wouldn't give a damn about her. i'm saying this by personal experience since i know i a lot of people who were surprised after discovering that Yoona was the face. they said she was so bland and forgetable

I think he is talk about the mainstream South Korea and since I have Korean friends I can vouch for him, most of what he is saying has an element of truth. My friends laugh at me because I like Sunny not because she is ugly but for the reason that she isn't pretty, same with Hyoyeon and they are much harsher on her.

If you listen in thier interview most people in the beginnng of SNSD debut days thought only of Yoona because of her acting so she was already popular for most people who knew little about SNSD. Her exposure was after the fact that she was acting.

But I think what is important to note that since SNSD is a korean group a korean perspective may hold more water then a more international one. That is why I said he makes a point, I just don't like how rude he was about it.

While on my hiatus I have been to kpop forum sites, so I would recommended people to go to those to try and learn things from other people perspective. Sooyoung doesn't have a weird shaped face, but her jawline is much stronger then most people would like from an idol. Also realize that even if Sohee has monolids she makes the most money out of the group, sh that could be why people like her image more than other because she is more known and doesn't more promotions.

I think it makes sense. The purpose of an idol group is to make money and if Koreans find YoonA to be the prettiest then it follows that she should be the center. Other countries don't matter as much, besides Japan (where YoonA is still considered to be the prettiest and most popular), because SNSD is a Korean group. Appealing to America or Europe wouldn't make much sense.
