The 팬팝 website has been around for quite a few years now- 3 years in fact, and whilst it is still relatively unknown compared to the likes of Myspace, 페이스북 and the so-called phenomenon known as Twitter, it is still for me THE website that I pay a visit to on a regular basis.
팬팝 was formerly a small relatively unknown website, whose number of members have grown, 월 의해 month, 년 의해 year.
With features such as uploading images, submitting website 링그 to other 기사 and 당신 Tube 비디오 to 글쓰기 articles, opinion pieces and posting your works of art and creating trivia questions, 팬팝 is so user friendly, it aims to give all of us users the opportunity to contribute, rate, to gain recognition for what we do, as well as to have fun.
This has been labelled as a social networking site, alongside Myspace, Facebook, Twitter- yet it also doubles up as a fansite too. Let's face it, have 당신 ever visited other 팬 sites for your favourite hobbies, interests, TV shows, actors, looked at what is on offer and thought: 'hang on for a second, I can do better than that'- yet 당신 do not know a thing about creating a fansite? Especially as 당신 have to learn HTML jargon and Dreamweaver for example?
Well, on Fanpop, 당신 can do what you've always wanted to do on here, which 당신 never had the opportunity to do whatsoever, and with ease.
Being one of the writers of Michael Urie Online fansite myself, whilst I can type up and post my articles, I cannot post photos, icons, 팬 art in the gallery on the site- therefore, I post a few 이미지 and provide the link to the Michael Urie Club so that other 팬 can follow it and see the photos, screencaps, 팬 art etc themselves. As a result, they all receive a good number of 'views' on there. And so in that respect, having the Michael Urie club on here to promote the pics etc to the fans-especially those who are not members of the club, has been very useful.
One of the best things about this website is that it mentions that everyone gets to contribute images, links, 기사 etc. Therefore, it is 더 많이 of a team effort, unlike general fansites where 당신 have just the moderator/site creator and owner/webmaster 또는 mistress, if 당신 are female and they do all the work. This is also an excellent idea because speaking as a 팬 of other TV shows, actors, I have been on many fansites and often I notice that he/she does not regularly update the content of the site.
And 팬 do notice straight away after a few months whether 또는 not the site has been updated.
An example of this is the 'Ugly is In' Ugly Betty 팬 site(which has coincidently enough dissapeared for good, recently). Being an Ugly Betty fan, for months I noticed that the 포럼 was littered with spam and irrelevant postings, which had nothing to do with the show, and that the 사진 gallery had not been updated. As the months went by, nothing had changed. It was only just 2 weeks 이전 I noticed that it was gone because when I tried typing in the 주소 link, I got a message saying that the site had been sold. Alas, there was no message prior to that and so I was unaware that it was going to happen.
Oh well. That is one example of how one should NOT run a website. Thankfully for Fanpop, I can post my photos, news and other content on the Ugly Betty club as well as others, and let the 팬 know what is going on with regards to the show and actors, on a regular basis.
I would, for one, would like to suggest a few additions to the 팬팝 site that would make it 더 많이 fun, accessible and gain even 더 많이 users and visitors in the long run.
Likewise:
For the person who contributes the most content on one spot to be allowed to change the 아이콘 and banner, say once, every year- but only if the original creator of the club has been 'inactive' from the spot for 더 많이 than 2 years. In other words, if the creator has not been submitting links, 이미지 etc within that period of time.
2) To create/customise and add a background to our profiles- of course, this isn't Myspace, but I think it would be great if we could distinguish each other's user profiles this way. Plus, it would make it 더 많이 attractive looking and appealing.
3) I also think that it would be good to have say one regular sized 사진 on the main page to represent the club and as a way of promoting it to the other users and fans.
4) As well as medals for dedicated and die hard 팬 for example, there should be an added logo/symbol, which denotes the spots where he/she has made the most contributions 사무용 겉옷, 전반적인 in terms of links, images, picks etc on the clubs they have joined. Likewise, if 당신 look at my 프로필 for example, 당신 will notice that I have 제출됨 더 많이 이미지 to the Michael Urie club than any other. Even though I have yet to receive a single medal for it.
But other than that, 팬팝 is still an excellent site- it is so much fun being on here and getting to know other people who share the same interests and tastes in music, TV, actors as yourself. Plus, it is easier to find people who are into the same things that 당신 are into and discuss it with them. No matter what your age 또는 where 당신 are from, it is easier to get yourself heard, 의해 contributing and taking part.
팬팝 is definitely the 다음 best thing- shame though it is not as appreciated and well known as Twitter, 페이스북 and 의해 many celebrities, as well as in the media. Because if I were a celebrity and had known that there was a spot created 의해 someone else based on me 또는 a TV show I was on for instance, I would definitely check it out.
I am so glad that I found Fanpop- I just hope it remains online for years to come. Thanks so much Dave and co- 당신 have indeed made 팬 site building so much easier:)!

I did it again.
I accidentally hit the "start chat" tab again.
And couldn't remember how make it go away.
I've had this problem a few times before and have to re-learn it every time.
For some reason, I'm always under the impression that the solution lies under my 프로필 settings.
It does not.
So now there is an 기사 to remind me, and anyone else who needs it, how to get rid of this dang thang.
Step 1: Under the "contacts" tab, click "I am online." The words, not the pencil. If 당신 click the pencil, it will complicate things and you'll have to reload the page.
Step 2: Click "Log out."
It's not the most obvious way out, but it's easy once 당신 finally remember how to do it, so I hope this helps cut down on some frustration. (If not for you, at least for me 다음 time I accidentally open it and frantically 검색 for a solution. =P)

Yeah, I know this is kinda lame, but this is all I could think up! :'(
Just go to an article, (or look the person who 당신 want to message up) and click their name near the top. 팬팝 will show 당신 their 프로필 page and scroll down until 당신 find the "Message" tab. Click it and ...voila!
Just type your message and send it. If they message 당신 back, your 메시지함 will tell you! Try it!
Sorry if this was lame! :(

의해 the way this is my first soapbox
Ok, I usually don't make user guides but this one needs to be made. I have seen a lot of picks and a lot of them are boring 또는 annoying. Here is a list of steps to help 당신 out.
1. Try to have 더 많이 than three 답변 if possible. If the 질문 is "Who should Jim be with?" Put, Karen and Pam, and then put an answer like neither 또는 Katy.
2.Always have pictures for the 질문 if it isn't a yes, no, 또는 maybe question. Pictures bring in 더 많이 팬 and make the picks 더 많이 interesting.
3. Try to ask 질문 that people haven't already asked and 질문 that people will be interested in. Don't make it boring.
Now these are the three golden steps to making a good, quality pick on fanpop. If 당신 feel I need to add anything, then please leave it in the comments.

I'm guessing a lot of people have all ready have found this problem but if 당신 don't understand then it's like this:
One 일 I decided to create a new club of something that didn't exist as a club yet but I couldn't find the 'Create a club' button. Trust me I looked high and low for the thing but couldn't find it. When I logged out of my account at last there I saw it, the 'Create a club button' so when I clicked on it they of course asked me to sign back in but when I did I was the same position I was in before clicking.
For some people this problem don't seem to happen but for people like me who want to create clubs but can't because the button is unavailable well it's frustrating. I've been looking abound for some kind of answer but the only thing that came up was a link link
this only leads to 당신 having to sign in again. I don't know if it's the signing in thing that's the problem but it really shouldn't be.
Please fix this problem Fanpop!

Yesterday, I was fanpoping. I come across the link spot- And went to videos. link is what I saw. There were 사과, 애플 pie 비디오 there. 제출됨 의해 Hulu.
link are some 이미지 의해 other fanpopers reporting this.
Hulu's 비디오 should NOT be done 의해 a webcrawler. (or whatever 당신 call it) Dave, either have a manual team do hulu's videos, 또는 dont do it at all.
EDIT: as amazondebs says in the comments, 팬팝 isen't even getting paid for hulu's videos. What is the purpose of having them here?
(Another) EDIT: 더 많이 of this maddness. and in link spot!
