99% of 당신 are amazing fans! This is a guide on dealing with the 1%.

To summarize:

1. 신고 ATTACKERS IMMEDIATELY. 당신 are doing the entire community a favor as they are probably attacking other members.

당신 MUST PROVIDE AS MUCH EVIDENCE AS POSSIBLE IN THE 신고 FIELD, including 링그 to the attacks.

Attacks are personal insults, threats, bigotry, etc. A person saying they don't like a contribution is NOT an attack. Having a 토론 is also not an attack until insults/threats etc. are mixed in.

2. IGNORE THEM. DO NOT RESPOND BACK. If 당신 attack back, 당신 are probably giving the attacker/troll what they want. We won't dig through 20 pages of reports to find out who started it. In some cases, both people will be banned.

3. Reporting is not a weapon. People who fraudulently 신고 enemies, do not provide details, and/or repeatedly 신고 people without providing evidence may also be removed from Fanpop. Some weirdos 신고 their own fake users. Seriously, 당신 are asking for it, and 당신 aren't fooling anyone.

4. CHEATERS WILL BE BANNED: DON'T SWITCH TO YOUR FAKE ACCOUNTS EVER AGAIN

Don't switch accounts to jack up your fans, props, 투표 votes, 또는 whatever. It's not fair to the honest fans. If 당신 have 프렌즈 who do this, please send them this article.

ALL of your accounts will be banned for life if a moderator chooses, even if 당신 have amazing medals. I'm sure 당신 can think of some famous banned fans, so we are serious. Consider this the final warning.

If 당신 created multiple accounts for any reason, pick one, and do not ever log into the other accounts again. 당신 don't need to 삭제 the old accounts, but do not use them. Excuses like "it's my brother/sister/dog's account" won't cut it.

Everyone is forgiven at this point. If you've cheated in the past, just don't do it again.

If 당신 get caught cheating after this 기사 is published, 당신 are toast, and 당신 may lose your "main" account forever.

This is an 기사 describing how and why bans happen. It's an updated 기사 based on one we 게시됨 in a troublesome club.

We've recently lifetime-banned several of the most troublesome users and deleted all of their content. In other words, there is no coming back for them. All their contributions are gone.

"But Fanpop, how can I avoid getting banned? I'm just a nice, honest, non-cheating fan!"

If someone picks a fight with you, DO NOT RESPOND, and immediately 신고 it, and make sure 당신 link to 또는 quote the offending content. We absolutely need all the details. If 당신 simply 신고 the user without providing evidence, no action will be taken against them.

Also, we're talking about personal attacks, not normal human interactions.

Example:
A 팬 writes: "You suck and yo mamma sucks" ->You 신고 them->Troll banned for life->You helped 팬팝 terminate a troll and made 팬팝 a better place!

Bad example:
Another 팬 writes: "This was some interesting fanfic, but the first section is taken word-for-word from my work last week. Here's the link. Do 당신 mind changing it 또는 attributing it to me?"->They are NOT a Troll, NOT banned, 당신 should change your fanfic immediately, and 당신 just wasted everyone's time. That being said, if the 팬 started the post with a slur 또는 insult, they would have a problem.

There's a saying that "you can get away with almost anything if 당신 do it nicely." While we're not necessarily encouraging people to try to get away with stuff, the "nicely" part is the key takeaway.

Given the volume of content and literally millions of fans, we cannot go and dig through a thousand 코멘트 to find out "who started it."

Think of it this way: if teachers and parents right now don't have time to figure out "who started it", imagine if one's parents had millions of children. Are they going to have time to sift through everything?

If 당신 do respond to said troll and there is a ton of back and forth, with both sides cussing each other out, both of 당신 will be banned from ever joining 팬팝 again. There is a good chance moderators will 삭제 100% of your content and strip your medals and caps, as well.

If your buddy was banned, please do not bother to contact us. There was a very good reason, and saying "he was really nice to me" really means nothing. Even criminals are nice to some people. Giving a moderator attitude will be bad for everyone, and 당신 won't be helping your friend's case.

The good news is that 99% of the users here are great people and not causing problems. Be cool and courteous with one another, report trolls immediately, WITH LINKED EVIDENCE, and every time WITHOUT responding to them, and, together, we'll purge them from 팬팝 once and for all.

Hey everyone,

I felt like 글쓰기 about the constant reposting of 아이콘 from livejournal, because I have become a very active lj user in the past months and I know of many lj people who are annoyed as hell to see their 아이콘 게시됨 here.

First of all I'd like to say that I did it too. Yes, I took 아이콘 that were 게시됨 on livejournal and 게시됨 them here with credit.
Now 당신 might say: Okay, but if people credit them, why is there a problem? It's not as if the lj people own the original pictures they icon.
This is of course true, but I think it is 더 많이 about respect and being polite.

Imagine you...

To like 또는 not to like? That is the question.

Earlier tonight, the ratings system of 팬팝 experienced a massive overhaul. No longer can 당신 rate content on a scale of one to five (ala YouTube), but if 당신 like content, 당신 can "like" it (ala Facebook), 또는 "be a fan" of it.

Dave gave a very good, logical explanation for the change to help assuage some fears and answer some questions:

"Hi Guys,

Thanks for making this pick. There are a lot of reasons we wanted to create a new system for deciding whether 팬 like something 또는 not. We found that most people were rating either 4 또는 5 stars so we thought...

If 당신 must promote a club, try these tips.
If you must promote a club, try these tips.
Re-reading the various 기사 about promoting clubs on Fanpop, it occurred to me that some fairly basic ideas were missing for promoting the clubs 당신 like (not just the ones 당신 create, but any clubs 당신 enjoy).

Many of the 이전 etiquette 기사 and 포럼 threads have described things to avoid in promoting a club, as well as suggestions for things to do. For once, I'm not going to rant about undesirable behavior (that's the plan, anyway), but just keep the focus on other things 팬 can try to promote their 가장 좋아하는 clubs. I hate those darned internet predators, don't you?
I just logged onto 팬팝 about a half 시간 이전 and discovered something extremely profane and inappropriate on the YouTube spot. Due to it's heavily pornographic material, the video was deleted shortly thanks to several reports from some handy fellow Fanpoppers.

It was 제출됨 의해 a user of the name bon8699. I reported this user 3 times and I expect him to be banned for a long, long time.

The reason I am so annoyed that this was 제출됨 is that this is not some pornography site. And this is most certaintly not NewGrounds, where 당신 can 제출하기 이미지 like this as much as 당신 please without...

I swear to whatever higher power 당신 believe in that I am going to injure someone with all the shoddy spelling going around. Yes abbreviations are easier (in a sense) but it looks like a 5 년 old wrote it and a lot of people don't understand it. So lets first go over some abbreviations that we should cut out of our vocabulary here at 팬팝 when 당신 post content...

u = you
r = are
srs = serious
2 = to 또는 too (using it as "two" is fine)
plz = please

If 당신 actually take that .5 of a 초 to type the whole word people will look at your content, 코멘트 and such a lot 더 많이 and with nicer comments...

I am not here to lecture 당신 yet again on 사진 crediting. I am done with that.

I am way past the lecturing and into downright grrrrrr-ville.

당신 already know full well that taking something 당신 did not create and not giving full credit to the owner is theft. Your excuses mostly boil down to laziness at this point.

So.

This is my public notice that any and all 이미지 with no credit to the original owner of the image will be rated harshly no matter how great the picture is... 또는 how much I normally like you.

Additionally, if there is a blatant Copyright notice right there on the damn picture and 당신 still failed to credit the owner, I'm reporting it to 팬팝 -and- notifying the owner of the image that 당신 스톨, 훔친 it.

Enough is enough.

Right, well the 제목 is a bit sarcastic. The whole "trolling" thing is sorta annoying me that having a low rate on something HAS to mean 당신 were trolled...well maybe there's a different reason. I'll break it up to why that might not have been a trolling...

Soapboxes
- Did 당신 use proper grammar? Check your spelling
- What's a paragraph? Learn how to use paragraphs properly to make your soapbox formatted and not look like a 1 별, 스타 article
- They may not agree 또는 think your opinion is totally outrageous...not a trolling

Yes, I am fired up again over another issue of cruelty here on Fanpop... specifically the practice of passing judgment on other users.
Let's face it, we do not know each other personally, and for the most part none of us have ever met in real life. I think it is cruel and sad that people find it necessary to try to judge the intentions 또는 actions of others. How could anyone possibly judge another person 또는 their actions without knowing them personally 또는 knowing the things they are going through. 당신 could not possibly say what 당신 would do in their situation without...

Okay, I don't know if it's just coincidence but I noticed this week that some picks just are, I don't quite know how to describe it, bad.

It just seems that a lot of picks are asked so that they are asked, a lot of them don't have pictures. (that's not very important but I can't help noticing)
But the worst thing is that there are so many typos in the questions. Look, my English is not very good, I make a lot of mistakes but al least I try to make as less as possible. I mean, a lot of 질문 are just so wrong, the 'preview' thing that 당신 get when you've finished making your pick is there...

A few 분 이전 I thought of a partial answer to the recent outbreak of internet trolls we've had over the last few moths.

Ladies and Gentlepoppers, I introduce to you:

The ATSOF (The Anti Troll Squad Of Fanpop)
This will be a society of fanpoppers who work together to justly rate any content which has (without reason) been rated low.

My plan is to make an ATSOF Spot; if a spot 또는 particular piece of content has been rated low 당신 can alert the ATSOF spot about this and some of the "fans" of the spot will head over to the content and rate the content fairly, therefore boosting the rating.

Please tell me what 당신 think; I don't want to create a Ghost-Spot-to-be

If we make a new spot we want to make it popular. Recently I made a new spot so when I wanted to send a message to all my 프렌즈 about it I got tired of typing individual messages so I quit. So we should be able to send one message to all our 프렌즈 at the same time if necessary. Also there should be an area that says "new spots" on the 집 page so that people can see what has been recently created and if they want to 가입하기 the particular spot. It would really make the people who created the spots happy because they could get some good publicity.

의해 the way I made a new spot about Kal Penn, the indian guy from the 봉고차, 반 wilder movies, Harold and Kumar go to white castle, and Epic Movie.

So if u like those 영화 check it out. all 당신 have to do is type "Kal Penn" in the 검색 engine" (obviously, I know)

Also this soapbox was ment for the 팬팝 spot

Hello to everyone,
my name is Inès, and I'm French.

As a lot of 당신 know, Paris has been attacked yesterday 의해 terrorists. The 음악회, 콘서트 hall "Le Bataclan" has been attacked during a concert.

128 dead and 더 많이 than 200 wounded are for now counted. This is a tragedy.

I was born and I've lived in Paris, and I often go there and to the Bataclan to attend concerts, and seeing this, is just awful. The whole country is shocked and desperate.

3 national days of mourning have been declared.

I invite 당신 to leave a few words, thoughts for the victims of this disaster.

Thank 당신 <3
